I think the 5e version in Quests on the Infinite Staircase also adds details of the city underneath the pyramid that the main adventure is set in.

Even if you're not playing 5e, I would still check out the Original Adventures Reincarnated volume for Lost City: archive.org/details/orig...

It expands the original dungeon to twice the length and adds a lot to build it into a full mini-campaign.

If you're playing up the weird fantasy aspects, definitely have fun with the crazy masks they are wearing. If I remember correctly, some versions of the adventure have the Cynodiceans basically believe that they are whatever their mask is, so if they have an animal mask on, they act like animals.

Cool! The Cynodiceans are wonderful holdovers from an ancient dead civilization. I don't remember if the original module focuses much on this, but some of the remasters and revisitings really emphasize the fact that the Cynodiceans are kept drugged and hallucinating the whole time.

Also, check out Dragon Magazine #315 for a great article returning to Cynodicea. There’s also a 3e module inspired by it in Dungeon #142 and the 3e book Elder Evils.

An excellent adventure! Just ran it for a camp of middle schoolers. Goodman Games Original Adventures Reincarnated released a 5e remaster. And another 5e remaster is in the new Infinite Staircase book.
