Guess what I've spent the morning doing??

TLDR it's all getting worse: number of Treasure finds up, number of donations and acquisitions down.

Rosalind Franklin and the damage of gender harassment Spurred by a recent report on sexual harassment in academia, our columnist revisits a historical case and reflects on what has changedβ€”and what hasn’t

Thinking only of Rosalind Franklin today, and what was stolen from her (and so many other female scientists alongside her).

A neat tool I just came across: Viabundus, a digital road map of northern Europe 1350-1650, that lets you calculate contemporary travel routes/times. In 1500, going Amiens β†’ KΓΆln by horse took almost 7 days and 13 toll payments.

It’s fascinating how often those who appeal to history are woefully ignorant of history! β€œSaxon forefathers” is a classic 19th century racial dogwhistle.

Moreover, the β€œancient liberties” thing is utter tosh.
