even with this awful news, I’m grateful to Leah, Ryan and the rest of their team for setting the bar high on how and where journalists pursue truth.

hearing that Hush has been cancelled is a loss for Oregonians, a loss for investigative journalism, a loss for community voice and justice.

Hush is hard-nosed when power shirks accountability. but when people are at their most breakable, it offers them an honest tenderness that is often lacking in journalism. this balance was masterful and I ended the season so eager to hear where the show goes next.

ugh. this was not the repost I wanted to make. I have been behind on my listening and just finished season 2 of Hush. I was so excited to blast on social media about what amazing journalism this is - reporting that digs into nooks and crannies that are often overlooked or awash in misinformation.

I learned this when I was working in a capacity to help folks find more supportive care when they were calling 911 with regularity. if they had OHP we had something to work with. just medicare? nearly impossible. that was eye opening for me.

we wait for the costs of heath care to knock someone into poverty or for them to age into care after decades of having crappy or no insurance due to high costs.

it honestly can’t even be called a ‘system’ because the only method to this madness is profit for insurers and drug companies

it makes *zero* sense that we offer government-sponsored health insurance for our populations most likely to have acute health needs (the elderly and folks living in poverty) but not for people with the time and means to gain the most from preventative care.

yep! “medicare for all” has driven me nuts for years. I figured a lot of folks maybe don’t realize what medicaid is since it is often called something unique to the state that administers it (Oregon health plan, here).

but ‘medicaid for all’ is how we get where we need to go.
