Watching this travesty has reminded me that in elementary school we did a musical that was loosely based on Oliver Twist and centered most of the action on a baseball team called the “Artful Dodgers”.

This is too much baseball for my brain. End it.

At the end of the day, very happy with the choice to get the full-size bars I would have loved getting as a kid. Heard a few kids whisper “whoa - full bars” and that made my night. ❤️

So you dissolve it into boiling water, and it fizzes a bunch and smells then, and then you smell the ammonia coming out when they bake (part of their leavening action), but it all leaves when they’re done, these just taste like peppermint at the end

I’m always happy when they’re close enough to hit the sense memory and take me back.

Grandma was an excellent baker and I learned to make these from her recipe after she passed. The first attempt was disastrous! A few decades more experience and perhaps I’ll get a little closer to her level…
