NIH-funded science must now be free to read instantly: what you should know
US biomedical agencyβs public-access policy kicks in on 1 July. Nature talks to specialists about how to comply.
Starting July 1, researchers funded by the US National Institutes of Health will be required to make their scientific papers available to read for free as soon as they are published in a peer-reviewed journal. Nature asks experts what researchers need to know about the NIH policy. #Academicsky π§ͺ

Check out WHO's Science in 5 series. Today's episode is on TB and the potential for a rapid regression from decades of improvingΒ outcomes. With the rapid withdrawal of the US from global healthcare, it will be difficult to fill this funding void.

Should taxpayers cover the light bills at university labs? Trump kicks off a tense debate
Taxpayers spend billions subsidizing the electric bills, equipment, and other overhead costs at university research labs. That funding may face steep cuts.

This was a topic during Trump 1.0. I think it is always good to revisit whether universities and regulations can be run more efficiently. But this is not the way to do it. Once universities start closing pressure on Republicans will be high.
