If you are following along on the demise of Hytale then this is probably the most encouraging news about the concept surviving in some form. There really needs to be some spiritual successor to Minecraft. Nobody trusts Microsoft anymore and I doubt there will ever be a Minecraft 2.

It's important to live a well balanced life. Ambition & community are both paramount. Work hard toward goals & make some sacrifice. But hang onto friends & make time for relaxing fun.

So just watched the Minecraft movie again on Max! Lots of people dismiss this movie but I love it and my kids love it. Jack Black and Jason Momoa are the lifeblood in this epic story. It's really just goofy and hilarious tickling all the itches for Minecraft fans. I want to live in the Overworld!

This setup allows for objects like torches to cast dynamic light when held while the player is moving and still integrate smoothly into the more visually accurate block based global illumination system when placed, dropped, or thrown—enabling a large number of interactive light sources in the world.

When the torch is held, it uses a real-time light source. But once released, it switches to fast block-based global illumination. You’ll see the lighting transition as I drop the torch into a pit or throw it through a window. The block lighting updates quickly enough that it feels almost real-time.

An adventure game cannot exist without torches! While working on the inventory and container system, I created a few test items—including a torch—which led to a deep dive into dynamic lighting. #vr #metaquest #unity3d #indiegame

It's still so weird to me that everyone in the XR space is pivoting to 'a headset for no-one, predicated on the idea that people will do things the data clearly shows they don't (work in VR)', steering away from the one thing VR does very well: Be a game console.

I love movie posters. The Mummy is such a great movie - the modern Indiana Jones with a lighter touch. I can't remember how many times I have watched it.

I am 1000% sure the US military can put on a better show than this. No marching, no smart uniforms, no drill weapons, and playing Vietnam protest songs. They know exactly what they're saying, and to whom. Malicious compliance. Love it.

with the more games i make, the more i realize that to actually successfully finish a game you must kill the idea guy in your head.
when you set out making your game, sure, you listen to the idea guy that lives in your brain, but at some point in development he must die so that the game can live 👍

Forgot to mention also paid for by you (the American taxpayer). So much for WASTE, fraud, and abuse! Oh maybe it was closer to $45M, my bad. I think the estimate was $60M when the damage to DC roads by the tanks is included!
