At the same time today's conference reiterates the importance of international cooperation, in delivering both economic security and climate resilience

That this conference is happening in London is a testament to the legitimate convening power the UK has on net zero

Today is a really positive demonstration of how key energy security is to the UK and wider world

Starmer, Von der Leyen and Miliband all stressed the importance of clean energy in a changed world, where volatile fossil fuels have threatened national security and family finances

Securing our own steel production is vital to build the infrastructure we need to deliver clean power and economic growth

On top of this, producing steel in the U.K. will give us greater agency in decarbonising the sector in the decades to come

The announcement on steel is a common sense decision that allows for the state to take decisive action in a nationally significant sector, securing the steel industry in the face of rapidly changing global trading norms

Funding for trusts and schools to produce and use their own power will act as a practical protection from future volatility

This will allow schools and hospitals to save millions on energy bills

Over the lifespan of these projects, individual NHS trusts will save £millions, while around 200 schools could save roughly £25,000 each year

This is money that can freed up to fund lessons and appointments

Covering school and hospital rooftops with publicly funded solar panels is an absolutely sensible thing to do

The Carbon Budget published today by the Climate Change Committee shows that, with proper intervention now, the UK can produce more, use more and waste less energy, all reducing emissions

This is really good, and why devolved government is so effective

This initiative has the potential to allow London government to effectively roll out home retrofit, which cuts bills, cuts emissions and creates decent, local employment

Nuclear energy is a high growth industry that sticks around for generations

In August, @edfenergy.com signed a union recognition agreement with Prospect, Unite, GMB and UNISON

This is a real opportunity to foster growth, energy security and well paid, unionised jobs

At the same time, decisions taken today to speed the roll out of small modular reactors will help build up an exciting new industry, where Britain has the potential to become a global leader

This doesn't just get fossil fuels off the UK grid, but will significantly reduce the sky-high cost of energy paid by industry

Reducing energy costs for industry offers the opportunity for high wage, high skill, high growth jobs in energy intensive industries, from steel to AI

At the same time, removing arbitrary expiry dates on planning applications means viable projects will no longer be "timed-out" as they progress through the planning system

Building out nuclear power is an absolute must, for providing baseload energy to the grid, without using coal, oil or gas

Making this possible, the government have scrapped the restriction of nuclear power to just eight sites, so a new fleet can be built across the country

The decision to ditch nuclear (because it wouldn't come on stream until 2022) is exactly the short-term policy making that has left the UK with some of the highest energy bills in Europe
