It's good that incidental music in TV programmes has moved on from pinky plonky ukulele/glockenspiel/whistling, but the grinding staccato strings that replaced it sounds exactly the same on every programme on telly at the moment.

*I know, I'm damning a whole and fair style there. Not every similar IPA is bad, and I drink it it's some success of marketing. And I'm not going all Hobgoblin 'what's the matter, lager boy etc etc'. Just bemused at the disappearance.

Sometimes you have to ask, if Punk IPA hadn't been invented and over marketed, would every pub in the country still find itself in 2026 overran with identikit mass produced bland IPAs?

The silent replacement of a decent bitter as The Non Lager Option with something hop flavoured lager adjacent. .

My own personal attempts at song writing produces stuff I like, overly smart turns of phrase, overly smart guitar, but I'm always lacking choruses.

Spontaneously sung a few lines with my toddler when playing with his toy railway last weekend. He's still singing it.

So I'm going to reuse that.

I agree, Insecure Men were ace and it seemed unfair on them to be on at the time they were on. I felt sorry for them when they resignedly trudged off stage at the end. They deserved better.

Especially being that Christmas is Thursday.

But will I get away with playing it whilst opening presents on Friday? Doubt it.

All I'm saying is that if some people can claim Die Hard is a Christmas film, then there's a definite argument for Half Man Half Biscuit's All I Want For Christmas Is A Dukla Prague Away Kit being a Christmas song.

It had me roaring with laughter watching before. Joan is incredible but Eddie's timing with 'what are we talking about Joan?' just kills me.

So many incredible characters and so easy to overlook some of them. Joan and Eddie are understated genius.

Innit.

And if you are going to video it, bin off the visible mics. Use a boom like they do on the telly. Keeping visible podcast style mics is giddy.
