Whittler of woodchips (Norway) I’m afraid I must now share my three favourite jokes about pedants . . . How many pedants does it take to change a lightbulb? The correct term is ‘replace’ Where did medieval pedants get their water? From a well, actually I waited years for the love of my life to get out of prison, so we could get engaged. When she was finally being released I explained my plan to my dad, who was an English teacher, even showed him the ring. ‘No, son,’ he said, tutting. ‘You can’t end a sentence with a proposition’ In the Swiss German Tüpflischiisser, the Tüpfli could refer to the little dots that appear over letters.
