No doubt the tavern closed in 1920 when Prohibition kicked in and sometime later it became Wally's corner store.

It may have been a tavern originally, but we lived on the 24th and St. Louis block in the 50s and it was Wally's corner food store. He had a dog named Rusty that we used to play with when we stopped in. Kitty corner was a shoe maker, with the smell of leather as you walked by.
