In response to Elon Musk dunking on someone as a "taker, not a maker," JCO quotes and replies "So curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciatesβ€”scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend's or relative's accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history. In fact he seems totally uneducated, uncultured. The poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the 'most wealthy person in the world.'"

My theory about Joyce Carol Oates is that all her bad posts are her charging up like Godzilla's spines until she lets loose with a radioactive blast that leaves the world's richest Nazi a pile of ash

Godspeed You! Black Emperor has removed their entire catalog from all music streaming platforms. Well, I've still got functioning CDs so that's good. Honestly surprised they were ever on them to begin with. Fβ™― Aβ™― ∞ remains a cherished favorite.

We buy a bag, just in case. There is a parade every year in the neighborhood and all the kids get treats in the park at the end of the parade so that's actually when it happens. It's a safety issue as it is an old historic neighborhood with no sidewalks and lots of dark areas on the road.

And I appreciate that. I couldn't keep up the exercise regimen like you, the facial cleanses, the four hours of yoga daily. But the pay off is magnificent.

And they fully understand now that both the American public and the media have become experts at the normalization of extremes in the last 9 years.

Without a doubt. They have been testing the waters with different cities and the National Guard. If they were to jump into action the month of the elections, it would be too abrupt, too shocking. But with over a year to go, they can easily normalize this in time.

I think so. I see that sentiment in YouTube comments on videos a out AI sloppy with the general feeling of "what's the big deal," where they don't understand the difference between using technical tools, like cgi, greenscreening, and even practical effects. They think, "it's all fake anyway"

I didn't even know about that. I'll have to check that out now! It's the only way. Just make your own movie however you can. And don't have any expectations of massive box office or awards.

It already is because corporate marketing departments don't care how the marketing gets produced. I feel hopeless at every getting a proper foot in the door of movie making. I just focus on my YouTube film essays at this point. At least there I get an audience and feedback.

It's such a maddening thing. I have heard other filmmakers who thrive on commercial work say that potential clients ask things like, "why should we pay someone, can't we just use our phones, or AI?"

I'm happy to "cede content creation to other people" because I make movies, not content. Let the content slop creators drown in their own environmentally damaging, economy crushing shit.

I decided to have a nostalgia hit this morning and watch an episode of Ultraman (episode 23, My Home is Earth) and quickly realized it had more interesting shot setups and lighting than almost any studio movie of today.
