Whether in the long-ago before time playing hockey, working through my doctoral dissertation or writing naval battles in my novels, I've always had to visualize to learn.
The latest is working through a new Tai Chi set with my instructor:
I don't normally describe a book as "beautifully written," but in the case of "A Gentleman in Moscow" I find myself stopping and thinking more about the poignancy of certain paragraphs in a similar manner of the protagonist who has suddenly faced reality.
