Functional characterization of the Csm1-like protein TITAN 9 in Arabidopsis thaliana Plant genetics; Plant bioinformatics; Plant Biology; Plant physiology; Plant systematics; Plant evolution; Plant development

Second: Some new findings about chromosome segregation in Arabidopsis!

We’ve characterized TITAN9 (TTN9), a distant Csm1-like protein in Arabidopsis. Proteomics revealed TTN9 associates with multiple kinetochore components, including DSN1.

We’ve uncovered Asgard chromatin structures formed by a Hodarchaeal histone : closed hypernucleosome conserved in archaea and an open form resembling the H3-H4 eukaryotic octasome. Fantastic work by @harshranawat.bsky.social!

Structurally heterogeneous ribosomes cooperate in protein synthesis in bacterial cells - Nature Communications Cells can simultaneously produce structurally dissimilar ribosomes, suggesting functional specialization of distinct ribosome populations. Here, the authors show that distinct ribosomes cooperate rath...

Out just now @naturecomms.bsky.social: using cryo-EM and cryo-electron tomography, we provide evidence that structurally heterogeneous ribosomes can cooperate in protein synthesis in bacterial cells:

Structural mechanisms for centrosomal recruitment and organization of the microtubule nucleator γ-TuRC - Nature Communications The γ-TuRC plays a central role for nucleation of microtubules at the centrosome. Here, the authors dissect structural mechanisms for centrosomal recruitment and regulation of the γ-TuRC and identify ...

Online today at @naturecomms.bsky.social and a great opportunity for our first post @bsky.app: in a major team effort, we reveal the structural mechanisms for centrosomal recruitment and organization of the human microtubule nucleator γ-TuRC: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

An interaction network of inner centriole proteins organised by POC1A-POC1B heterodimer crosslinks ensures centriolar integrity - Nature Communications The inner scaffold is key for centriole stability but its organization is unclear. Here, the authors show the formation of POC1A-POC1B heterodimers, where POC1B resides near the centriole wall and POC...
