#NowPlaying #jazz 1975. Picked this up w/out ever hearing it based on names involved. Opening track has some spoken word poetry & last track closes w the whole group having what sounds like a full on celebration. In between is some great free playing w thundering drums

#vinyl #Jazz couldnโ€™t stay away from a record fair happening yesterday. For some reason all the good deals were Japanese & 70s blue notes that I didnโ€™t have

#vinyl #jazz everything I grabbed in Montreal. Despite what it looks like kept it pretty light. 3 or less records per store & every record under 30 CAD whatever that coverts too. But def wanted to spend a lot more at aux 33 tours thoโ€ฆ

#vinyl #jazz ended up w less time than hoped to record shop in Montreal. Hit up 4 stores but didnโ€™t make it out to a few that were farther from downtown. Cie la vieโ€ฆ(lol). Aux 33 tours was huge highlight should have just started there. Freesons had an ecm section! Rest a bit meh

#NowPlaying #Jazz 1975 Japan Reissue. A Paul Bley classic. Also will be in Paul Bleyโ€™s hometown (Montreal) for a couple days if anyone has any record store recommendations there

#Jazz #vinyl Labor Day weekend pick ups. The Stephen McCraven-Sam Rivers album was completely new to me as of a couple weeks ago but got obsessed w it pretty quickly. A local store had a copy & made a couple Discogs sales to be able to afford it

#NowPlaying #Jazz 1979 us. Happy birthday Art Pepper! Very good later career album. Doesnโ€™t quite hit the high point of Todayโ€™s Patricia but is a really nice album. Red Mitchellโ€™s bass playing on here especially adds a really nice dark foreboding touch to the ballads

Yeah that was my problem w it for awhile. Una mas is a bit more complex song and I started listening more for Hancock who is doing a lot more than harris did on sidewinder. Side 2 of this is great tho

#NowPIaying #jazz 1973 us stereo reissue. Happy birthday Kenny Dorham. An all time great. This is his blue note album I was slowest to come around on oddly. Title track was a little too going for sidewinder and rest never fully clicked. Has now tho. And Hancock on this esp

#NowPlaying #jazz Running thru 3 of the greatest blue note albums this afternoon. Have always viewed these 3 as a trilogy of sorts & finally got a 70s rvg copy of Destination Out to complete it. Some of the best & still most forward sounding jazz that exists

#NowPlaying #jazz 1982 us. Top tier Waldron w an amazing group here. 1st song letโ€™s Jordan go just about hard bop swing mode for a bit & then things get darker & go deep into vintage Waldron territory. McBee is great on here as usual

#NowPlaying #Jazz 1979 us. No idea what Farrell/label were thinking w this album cover art. Has a very โ€œhey there fellow kidsโ€ feel but album is very good. Farrell stays on tenor sax & Chick Corea joins mostly in non-fusion hard bop mode w a little electric piano mixed in

#NowPlaying #Jazz early 60s stereo reissue. Happy Birthday Wayne Shorter! His very first as leader. Definitely more Coltrane influence sounding than what his later sound and songwriting would be but this is very good hard bop album

#nowplaying #jazz 1981 us. 1st ever listen to this. Donโ€™t think itโ€™s on streaming tho can buy digital from artistโ€™s Bandcamp! Really nice stuff. Berne is def very Julius Hemphill influenced here but some very interesting compositions w plenty of room for each musician involved

#vinyl #Jazz pickups at Autumn Records in Winooski, VT. Would have grabbed more but Iโ€™m kinda broke. Only 1 ecm from their ecm section but itโ€™s one Iโ€™ve never seen before. Tho tbh a bit scared of it (Iโ€™ve never actually listened) but love the very non-ecm cover art.

21.08.2025 16:12 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 14    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Itโ€™s good! Yeah does have Eddie Gomez on it. And Jack DeJohnette

#NowPlaying๏ธ #Jazz 1976/77 Germany repress. One of the very best ecm records. An absolute classic. Combo of Rivers & Braxton works perfectly on these Holland compositions. Canโ€™t understate how good Altschul is too, even appears on marimba. Amazing stuff

#jazz #vinyl Weekend pickups. Failed again at staying away from record stores. First 3 are represses or reissues (Dorham Japanese pressing obvs) so werenโ€™t that expensive and all of the records after that were all bargain bin grabs..

#NowPlaying #jazz 1983 us. Possibly my favorite of the sextet(t) albums. Doesnโ€™t quite swing as much as pass the bucked but has some of his most interesting compositions imo. Really great stuff!

lol I know which one you are talking about. Definitely for looking hard, but tbh that Mann cover has a little more sex appeal

#NowPlaying #jazz 1978 Italy. Prob the hardest anyone has ever looked on a jazz album cover. Great great album. Always mesmerized by Abdul Wadudโ€™s cello playing on the final song on this

#NowPlaying๏ธ #jazz 1971 us. Sunday morning music. Absolute classic imo. Balances modal & spiritual jazz adds just a touch of electric instruments & even vocals on a song. 1 of if not his very best. Too lazy to make a top 10 jazz list but this 1 might have made it on mine
