Now that #NoKings 2.0 is behind us, here's a quick 🧵 into the data we collected in DC on Saturday to start thinking about what the day-of-action can tell us about this wave of Resistance to Trump2.0 and its policies. The day turned out millions across the US in over 2700 locations across the US:

"Anna, Lindsey Halligan Here." Anna Bower Monday, October 20, 2025, 5:40 PM Share On: f X inK My Signal exchange with the interim U.S. attorney about the Letitia James grand jury.

EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

cool how the Overton window has shifted to the point where saying in plain english

"i am a nazi politician"

elicits a reaction of

"ooh, that's a little edgy. might not be able to hire you this term. msm's going to say it sounds kind of racist"

"But when the team looked at the employees’ actual work output, they found that the developers had completed tasks 20% slower when using AI than when working without it. Researchers were stunned. “No one expected that outcome. We didn’t even really consider a slowdown as a possibility.”

I am beyond excited (and nervous!) to announce that my first book, "The House Archives Built and Other Thoughts on Black Archival Possibilities" is available for sale!

This series of essay includes reworked talks, new reflections, and a lot of my heart

The veneration of Books As Objects misses the point entirely. If you're reading a book, turn the corners down, break the spine, spill soup on it. It's your book, go nuts. A pristine, unread book is a tragedy in a way that a beloved, much-read book that looks like the dog's been at it could never be.

In Broadview, IL this morning outside the Chicago area ICE detention center—

Just rolled up, immediately saw ISP/CCSO arresting a protester w/ a guitar (he appears to be in good spirits over it).

ICE vehicles have been coming and going, including a large bus driven by a masked agent seen earlier.

They Want To Ban Books To Keep Us From Coming Out Quick housekeeping! I’m doing a flurry of events once again: Tuesday I’ll be in the Koret Auditorium at the SF Public Library talking about banned books for...

Today is National Coming Out Day!

It's also Freedom to Read Day, aka the last day of Banned Books Week.

This feels right — because the main reason they try to ban books is to keep people from dreaming they could ever come out.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

in 2011, the president of antifa hired me to give fashion consultancy to the organization. i recommended everyone wear navy suits with tan shoes, dress sneakers, and golf polos with slim chinos. if you arrested everyone today wearing these things, you'd destroy antifa

That "It doesn't have to be good, it just has to exist. You can make it good later." thing is what gets me in the booth, relieves me of perfection. And then typically I'm relaxed enough to be satisfied with one or two takes max.

S'why disciplined daily writing or warm-up sketches are important.

The revolutionary politics of Final Fantasy Tactics, and why Ramza Beoulve is a hero for our times Final Fantasy Tactics' original writer-director Yasumi Matsuno signalled the timeliness of this remake for a reason: its hero offers a model of resistance.

Oh, hey! I'm *writing* again!

Let's talk about a man named named Ramza Beoulve. Let's talk about the "ease at which men are branded heretics..."

Let's talk about revolution.

The Road to Canterbury May the best story win! Enter the medieval world of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales," where your journey, and the stories you tell, will change history.

Anyway I hear there are people here who love to read non-linearly and for those people I have a small reminder, prompted by the arrival of my monthly Choice of Games royalty statement, that sometimes I write interactive fiction, like this:
