I ordered Star Borg from @jpcoovert.bsky.social for my little cousins and thought I'd make a handful of paper minis to go with it.

I used packing tape to "laminate" them and a penny to weigh the bottoms down, and keep from tipping so easily.

The dungeon just has all the best sun spots to lay in. Magic wizard mini-sun light fixture? Cool arcane windows?

It's a 3D platforming parkour game, but it is very megastructure and very Blame.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about Lilith's Brood (also published as Xenogenesis) by Octavia Butler since I read it. I think 2025 is the read of the re-read!

I don't have any qualms with sex in my stories, but the second book especially read like the horny daydreams of a nerd entering puberty. And most of the women quit being characters as soon as they sleep with Louis, like some sort of interstellar STI.

Read the first two this year. All of the cool things he could have explored, and instead it seemed like Niven was mostly interested in figuring out how many alien species his protagonist could hookup with. I love a good alien megastructure story, and it's sad the grandaddy of them felt so hollow.

This could be a rad premise for a cyberpunk adventure. You're sent in to contact the reclusive creator of the game after their publisher shut it down. Maybe something like Hideo's World for Mothership? A mini fantasy campaign in the middle of a cyberpunk one.
