Tesla hit with $243 million in damages after jury finds its Autopilot feature contributed to fatal crash The verdict follows a three-week trial that threw a spotlight on how Tesla and CEO Elon Musk have marketed their driver-assistance software.

A hugely important verdict.

The victims were pedestrians, so Tesla can't argue they knew/accepted Autopilot's risks.

People walking, biking, and inside other cars didn't consent to be Elon Musk's guinea pigs.

Food insecurity is a problem for far too many people across Minneapolis. That’s why the City Council, led by @robin4mpls.bsky.social, is looking into municipal grocery stores:

β€œNearly 25% of students have reported experiencing food insecurity and I think that’s just completely unacceptable.”

At least one Ward 4 candidate, @coleforward4.bsky.social, has been talking about that throughout their campaign. www.coleforward4.org/vision

If there's one thing I've learned in my 20 years of following Minneapolis politics, it's that Blois Olson is always wrong.

Last time Jacob Frey ran for mayor, he told voters he had banned the use of no-knock warrants in Minneapolis.

A month into Frey’s 2nd term, Amir Locke was killed by MPD Officer Mark Hanneman while executing a no-knock warrant.

Turns out Frey’s line about no-knock warrants was a lie.

When Jacob Frey first ran for mayor in 2017, he infamously promised to end homelessness in 5 years.

Eight years later, homelessness in Minneapolis is no better than when he first ran.

And since Mayor Frey can’t rely on actual data, he started making up his own.

E-bikes are cheating.

For example, our ride home in the cargo bike is an instant mood-booster for me and my kids (vs how grumpy we all get when we’re stuck in traffic in the car).

Biking is my parenting hack that makes my family’s day better.

Hm, I always end up building it interactively, one baby step at a time… add a clause, add a join, flesh out selects, etc. But I usually work with fairly small datasets (thousands/millions of rows), so I can run it after each step and see the results. Trying to write it on paper sounds hard!

Ventured out tonight to listen to @coleinmidway.bsky.social and learn about his campaign for Ward 4. It'll be tough to fill the vacuum felt by the departure of @mitrajunjalali.bsky.social, but after tonight I'm hopeful about the next generation stepping up and running hard on progressive policies.

It was a great idea. But it got almost no support from the city and was sunk by people like Crockarell. I'd still love to see it happen, but in the meantime I'd like the city to be held accountable and take responsibility for having no safe biking options for Lowertown residents

Maybe update that map to remove the 4th St Market District and the Wacouta "minor bikeway", to call out the complete lack of any safe connection with the rest of Lowertown.

Feeling like it's just a matter of days until:
- Iran or some other actor attacks a Trump property
- Trump uses the U.S. military to retaliate
- Trump uses the U.S. military to protect all his properties
- Trump uses the U.S. FEMA budget to finance the repairs to his property

We’re fortunate to have room-darkening shades, because that stupid sign is absurdly bright, shines directly into our bedroom, and it’s on all night for no reason. Being one of the thousands of residents in downtown comes with very few of the protections/considerations given to neighborhoods.

Hosko helped with the Trooien takeover of the WSCC, the Crockarell takeover of the downtown CRC, and the dismantling of Wabasha Partners, each one with a campaign of misinformation. His ad hominem attacks on city staff and electeds have been constant over the years. Spiteful and small are accurate.
