During my job search, I went to a headhunter firm. There was a young woman who had me fill out a bunch of papers and take a bunch of ridiculous timed data entry tests and then she told me there’s no way that she could help me get back to my previous salary level. Devastating commentary.

My current job is pretty good. I feel fairly well compensated and there are few issues. I had to do a lot of legwork to land this job over a decade ago and I’m glad I did. But every now and then I think of the before times.
