It's shameful. Wrt to specific individuals, I assume there were more than enough potential Yes votes in the caucus. & some of the actual Yes votes were retiring members (e.g., Durbin) or those not up for election til 2030 (e.g., Kaine) who took one for the team. Again the whole thing is shameful.

In 2018 Dem didn't get the immigration reform they demanded. So we "lost" I guess?

But 2018 ended w/ Republicans getting shellacked in the midterms. Which we needed. Was immigration salient in that?

And we'll need to win in 2026 w/ messaging on HC & affordability.

David French is overthinking it. MAGA extremists don't excuse Trump's bad acts because he's brazen. They excuse them because he's Trump.

Brazenness is just a property of Donald Trump, like bad hair, and face paint.

They don't judge Trump on acts. They judge acts he did as OK.

That's an important distinction that a lot of people miss.

Now do how he needs endorsements to win (DNC, elected Dems, etc).

Yeah. I don't get why critics ignore Mamdani's positive features that are generally transferable to other elections (other city/state/national). And focus only on specifics that conflict w/ their POV. Mamdani is a lesson in political athleticism but apply it your election/location/year.
