One non-prime time speaking slot at the convention, + the powers that be couldn’t even allow that. In a tight election, we didn’t work to win the votes of a small but organized allied community.

Of course, none of this would matter if white voters had voted for the qualified candidate. Sad sad sad

I agree it is confusing. It was an easy call for me to vote Democratic. But if thousands of my community were being slaughtered and the current administration was directing that + refusing all discussion, I might prioritize sitting out the election, as well. I can’t blame those voters.

They’ve been doing that for at least 15 years, often it’s β€œmaintenance” that starts at 9 PM…you basically CAN’T make the last train, must take a car service

OTHAYOTH - Website Under Construction Website Under Construction

That’s an easy feeling to have but…in Fall 2024 their extended families were being slaughtered + it was quite clear the people who led the party which ***should have cared*** didn’t care one bit at all. We need to earn votes and our party didn’t even try

There is little that feels β€œsubstantive” about this headline, it could have come right from the NYT… we keep analyzing ourselves right out of electoral victories

He has to get elected first, and every nitpick we have is just used as fuel by the racist and pro-billionaire establishment media to create a cloud of confusion. Too much detail, especially from those of us not on the electoral front lines, obscures the premise and promise a candidate needs to have.

Is the New York Times trying to wreck Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral bid? | Margaret Sullivan With their made-up scandal, combined with the pre-election editorial, the Times looks like it’s on a crusade against Mamdani

I love that former NYT public editor @sulliview.bsky.social is public-editing from the outside.

"With this made-up scandal, combined with the pre-election editorial, the Times looks like it’s on a crusade against Mamdani.

"And no lofty explanation about the mission can disguise it."

Bulwark subscriber here… I found it disappointing that neither Nadya Williams nor John Wilsey took the time to say whose rights should be taken away in this β€œpre-political” time they yearn for. Gays, immigrants, blacks, women? All of them? Which rivers were they like to see polluted again?

+yet today many of your Dem colleagues voted for another Trump appointment, this time to China... can you please make up your mind whether there’s an emergency? Or not?

(FWIW I believe it is an emergency and would like my party’s officials to start acting like it!)

How Trump’s Canada threats dampened Quebec separatist movement - for now Patriotism is on the rise in Quebec, a region that has held two referendums over whether to leave Canada

@leylandcecco.bsky.social

Why would you write that electioneering and a political party earning a district’s votes is β€˜stealing an electoral district’

Is Quebec disliked that much? Or just an unfortunate turn of phrase?

It's not "did not vote" it's "voter suppression". It's single day elections on work/school days people can't take off, miss out on $, or fit into the day. It's reducing early & Sunday voting, ID demands, not allowing advocates to provide refreshment in voting lines, no online option, GERRYMANDERING!

Not across the board, but I think it is a good explanation for elite private schools with large endowments. At some point growing the endowment becomes the marker of success.
