Back into my binge-watch of #DS9. I'm up to the 2-part Bell Riots episode. It's scary AF just how well they predicted where we'd be... and this was in the 90s. Three decades later and we haven't learned a goddamned thing.

Sure. I'm also from a poor, single parent home, was in honors programs/schools, got many full scholarships, stipends, etc. But most advantages aren't economic, and these're success stories of people IN the programs. We can meet students where they are better without honors programs

That's right. The best schools are ones that are equipped to meet everyone where they're at and advance them. You don't need "honors" programs for that, just good schools. Structurally, and based on how school fiscal policy tends to work, these are not the same thing
