Back into my binge-watch of #DS9. I'm up to the 2-part Bell Riots episode. It's scary AF just how well they predicted where we'd be... and this was in the 90s. Three decades later and we haven't learned a goddamned thing.

Three stacked photos of Rep. lee speaking at a podium. In yellow text, the first one is captioned "ICE isn't the gestapo." The second one reads "It's not anything that is inherently un-American. In fact, it is something that is deeply American. The reality is that this is regular, run-of-the-mill American racism." The third one reads "It's okay that we admit that. It's okay that we recognize that our nation has been flawed. Recognizing that is the only way to forge a pathway forward."

The way ICE is moving isn't foreign or new.

It's run-of-the-mill American racism and authoritarianism.

The Problem with this Humanoid Robot
YouTube video by Marques Brownlee The Problem with this Humanoid Robot

Ok but jokes aside I would actually pay $20k for a humanoid robot that doesn't promise me a bunch of stuff that's impossible but just lets me basically portal into my mom's house from across the country to help her with stuff through VR

Mamdani: "I speak of Renee Good, whose final words to the man who murdered her were, 'I'm not mad at you.' I speak of Alex Pretti who died as he lived, caring for the stranger. ICE shot him bc he did something they could never fathom ... let us offer a new path: one of defiance through compassion."

Why is BTC dropping? Did the machine that turns receipts for spent computing power into future productivity stop working? I assume it exists and usually works.

A central part of liberals' strategy for many years now has been arguing that leftists in general have no power or relevance. And we're useful to them as opposition because they can blame all their failures on us somehow.

the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women β€” and interactions with them β€” through the lens of sex

There are some specific types of markets where overvaluation is structurally reduced because of how the money flows, but I would argue "bubble" is just a misnomer for that type of simple speculation. The AI, housing, and other meaningful bubbles are built with moonshots and leverage

Sure. I'm also from a poor, single parent home, was in honors programs/schools, got many full scholarships, stipends, etc. But most advantages aren't economic, and these're success stories of people IN the programs. We can meet students where they are better without honors programs

05.02.2026 16:33 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

That's right. The best schools are ones that are equipped to meet everyone where they're at and advance them. You don't need "honors" programs for that, just good schools. Structurally, and based on how school fiscal policy tends to work, these are not the same thing

Everybody should sell their Palantir stock as soon as possible. Tanking this company would make the world marginally better.

^this. It stuffs a wedge between the students with advantages and those without and pries them even further apart. Should students who are working harder get resources to continue their momentum? Yes. But not at the expense of other students. Those progressing slower need just as much or more
