There is good news this week, actually. Katie found a Herman Miller chair at the goodwill for $20. Great condition. Yes, a real one. I feel this is an occasion to break out the #blesstd hashtag.

Also a number of students from the university have shown up to speak with thoughtful eloquence on issues that are really important to them. Seeing that civic engagement (on a school night!) makes me really proud of the populations I work with.

I feel like the lawyer absolutely ignoring procedural rules says everything we need to know about how that location/ Circle K in general operates.

I'm attending a city council meeting. Circle K wants a liquor license for *another* location in town and pro/anti positions are voicing opinions.

Pro: Circle K's lawyer, is allotted 5 min talks for 10.

Anti: Multiple residents from near the location, are allotted 5 min, talk for 5 or less.

1 of the many things I've learned in the last 12 years working in higher ed is this:

if an individual, org, center, or group consistently finds that faculty don't like working with them, and faculty push back on working with them.... it's really not the faculty that are the problem. 🤷‍♂️

COVID booster + cheeky little 30 mile ride = tomorrow morning is going to be interesting.
