Petition: Do not introduce Digital ID cards We demand that the UK Government immediately commits to not introducing a digital ID cards. There are reports that this is being looked at.

In principle, I’m not actually automatically opposed to ID cards. However, from how the present UK government is going about this and related matters, it’s a straightforward nope, not on your life.

Why are the American president's claims about autism the first item on British news bulletins?

He's not our president, the advice doesn't apply here and he's not presented any evidence to support his assertions.

So why spread these claims? What make this the biggest story in the UK?

Tories demand tax fraud probe into Angela Rayner. Funny, coming from a party built on dodging taxes: Johnson - £9m cash mansion, Sunak - family tax schemes, Cameron - Panama Papers, Hunt - 7 rental flats. Pyromaniacs moaning about a campfire. #ukpolitics

So the big “patriot” flying England flags on every lamppost? Turns out he’s already been banged up for trying to smuggle immigrants in. 😂 You couldn’t make it up – a flag-waving fraudster shouting about borders while running his own immigrant smuggling at Dover. Proper flag shagging 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 wanker logic.

Wow Steve Baker slams Robert Jenrick's language on asylum seekers:

"The tone in which we say things really matters. We're talking about human beings... It's really important that when we discuss people, we leave room for the innocent majority. We have to ask ourselves, how fragile is civilisation?"

The radical right in Britain increasingly claims to represent "Christian values" & "Christian civilisation" - though its leaders rarely go to church or pretend to believe anything.

It's especially important that Christian leaders speak out against this, as it's their tradition that's being claimed.

Well said, Mo Salah.

Suleiman al-Obeid was shot dead by IDF forces whilst waiting for food aid in southern Gaza.

Latest figures show visas for health/care workers have fallen to the lowest level in at least a decade. With desperate shortages why on earth is this being celebrated as some kind of win for the country? We’ve completely lost the plot

Deeply concerned that changes to trans rights could be approved without MPs or the public seeing details. This risks undermining accountability on issues affecting lives and freedoms. Proposals must face scrutiny before approval. Everyone deserves to know what’s being decided in their name.

I should add some nuance to this point - access to work is different across EU countries & there remain many barriers.

But in some countries it's working well. We should be matching asylum seekers with language & skills training in areas where we need workers to get the best for all

Last night fighting an ex Liz Truss minister (for goodness sake) on Newsnight about what to do about asylum accommodation.

Day in, day out, I speak to ordinary people who are organising to welcome the asylum seekers accommodated in their towns.

They befriend, support them, reach out to them as fellow human beings.

That's the Britain I know, the one I see around me & we never get told about on TV.

Sign the petition: Stop all UK support for the Israeli military in Gaza I've signed a petition calling for Keir Starmer to end all UK military support in Israel.

Israel plans to take over Gaza City. Starmer says their plan is wrong & they must rethink it, but the UK is still supporting Israel with arms sales, training, RAF surveillance flights & more. Sign the petition: tell Keir he MUST end this support: 38d.gs/hwpb

Don’t believe the myth: Britain’s services have been hit hard by Brexit Export growth has been strong but not lived up to its potential

⚠️ "The results are stark. Where the most extreme barriers were introduced, services exports fell 90 per cent. On average there was a 16 per cent drop in services exports to the EU in sectors where Brexit imposed new trade frictions"

Brexit blocks growth.
