Dumbest political journalism ever actually undersells how truly, deeply dumb it is. I feel dumber having read it.

I mean why is it an ideological conversation. "take a shower and express genuine interest." end of podcast. this also works for conservative men. the thesis that there's some trick to attracting a mate is fundamentally a con, I don't think the left should try to get in on that particular racket

If not building new housing prevented gentrification and kept housing prices down... SF would be least gentrified city with the lowest average rents in the country.

Not the main issue here but...what the fuck does "innately designed" mean? The design of the project contains design? God these people are sloppy, sloppy enough I wouldn't enter a structure built and designed by them because I value my life.

Me: β€œSiri, set timer for 50 minutes.”
Siri: β€œSetting timer for 15 minutes.”
Repeat x5
I’ve never found a decent use case for Siri that I couldn’t do faster myself.

Sounds like the headline's more appropriate for Garland's "Men." I liked the film version of Annihilation a lot more than I expected to (still like the books better).

I started using Authory to pull in my stuff automatically. Had to do some wayback machine and lots of manual searching as well but I think I got everything back to around 2002. My expectation that my work would live forever online was woefully misguided 🀣

Things Are Somehow Getting Worse for the Washington Post A raft of buyouts and multiple ongoing shake-ups have left staff despondent and unsure about the future.

Looks like Bezos plan is to transform the Washington Post into a newspaper with all the prestige, respect, and talent of the Washington Times.

Ball Game: How a gender-affirming surgery changed my cisgender life in middle school (and beyond)
YouTube video by Sean Bugg Ball Game: How a gender-affirming surgery changed my cisgender life in middle school (and beyond)

In 1980, we didn't call it "gender affirming surgery" to overcome my deep shame and fear by giving me a testicular implant but that's sure as hell what it did for me. And affirming medical care shouldn't be limited to cisgender people like me. #gendercare #lgbt #transrights

I have a couple folders of stories (finished and unfinished), plus my very nice and encouraging rejection letters from Asimov's SF Magazine and Amazing Stories. I didn't succeed in getting published at 14 but I'm glad I still have the evidence I tried.

Why the Gen Z stare has every generation talking A deadpan look from Gen Z is drawing comparisons to the Boomer β€˜lead paint’ stare and the millennial pause.

Weirdly, I have not experienced this so-called stare and haven't heard about it until I saw this, so I'm doubting the "every generation talking" about it. Mercifully, the writer appears to have skipped over Gen X for this, as all media tends to do. Once again, I'm glad to be forgotten.

Discovering the Unfound Door Books that Changed my Life: Thomas Wolfe’s β€œLook Homeward, Angel”

Without "Look Homeward, Angel," I wouldn’t have attempted Faulkner’s "The Sound and the Fury" and "Light in August" (that’s a true banger). I wouldn’t have read Toni Morrison’s "Beloved," and I would have been the worse for it. On discovering capital-L Literature after college. #books #booksky

My experience is they say something about Biden, gripe about their personal grievance, then refuse to engage beyond yelling about that grievance. Fruitless effort for the most part.

I’m 57, gay, and haven’t spoken to my dad in more seven years, aside from a brief call when my mother-in-law died that sealed my decision to finally stop putting up with the bullshit. Screw parents and family that can’t accept their children.
