It’s telling that conference was festooned with Thatcher tat. She infected the party with dogma they can’t rid themselves of, even when the country has firmly said “no more!”.

Father, husband, drinker of malt & hop based beverages, eater of exquisite scran... Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

08.10.2025 12:45 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It seems like the Tories have looked at the state of the country and decided, “what we need is a housing market bubble”.
Party of fiscal responsibility, my arse.
Badenoch,
“I stand for all the things you rejected at the last election. I stand for never reflecting. I stand for the same tired old Tory shibboleths.”
Badenoch’s speech is nothing but handouts for people who have plenty.
They haven’t reflected on defeat at all.
Same old Tories.
"Only the Conservative Party can deliver the stronger economy and stronger borders that will give people a more prosperous future."
I can't for the life of me understand why Badenoch thought that was a sensible opening to her speech. Everyone just responds:
'Eh? After the last 14 years!'.
I wonder if he’s compiled a list of judges who offer their expertise to organisations he supports?
07.10.2025 15:12 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I think it just points to her being thoroughly unlikeable.
07.10.2025 07:37 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The first thing Badenough does is dish up a snide insult.
Does she really think that’s a good look?
#r4today
Mel Stride pushing all the tired old Toryisms, “living beyond our means”, “we must punish the poorest”.
They still haven’t realised their only message should be “we are a changed Tory party”.
#r4today
Birbalsingh is a crackpot. Like all crackpots her career will end in disgrace, they always do.
I don’t know why anybody would listen to her.

What's effectively happening here (in the British media at large, too) is the construction of "anti-racism" as somehow a "political alternative" to racism, rather than as a minimal civilisational standard, which in turn (further) vindicates racism as *also* an acceptable political position.

That’s dopey dogma for ya.

Another crackpot Tory who got everything he wanted for 14 years defects to Reform UK Ltd. because of the state of the country or something…
15.09.2025 10:46 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0They seem to be basing the discussion of rich people allegedly leaving the UK on nothing but anecdote.

Webb seems to be assuming the shooter is left wing. There’s no evidence of it. Not great journalism.
It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a messed-up right wing crank.

It looks like they've contracted the job to ICE.

It’s not 1979.
Same old Tories.

The same Jim Ratcliffe who wants a load of public money to redevelop his hobby football club.
What an arsehole.
He wants locking up.
Luke Johnson does nothing but create straw men arguments. I’d like to think he’ll be embarrassed when he gets home (he won’t).
#r4today
#wato fawning coverage of Reform Ltd’s conference is shockingly poor.
What happened to objectivity?
A good related story for #r4today to follow the Angela Rayner allegations would be Kemi Badenoch lying about her educational achievements.
Just saying.
Cancelled my vehicle insurance. It's got a month and a bit to run. £60 cancellation free.
In what way has it cost them £60 to cancel it?
Tories wanging on about Angela Rayner’s housing arrangements.
Do they think we’ve forgotten?
Jeremy Hunt “forgetting” he owned 11 flats is the first of many off the top of my head.
If she’s done something wrong she needs to resign, I bet she hasn’t.
I’d keep my head down if I was the Tories.
And domestic abusers.

Sums up the Tories. They’ll never change and that’s why they’re screwed.
Today's political kayfabe:
- Treat Jeremy Hunt's report for the Policy Exchange as a serious piece of academic research.
- Don't ask peer reviewed academic researchers in the field for comment
- Pretend that Policy Exchange is a serious think-tank.
@lbc.co.uk
Was about to post the same thing.
