Centrist. London. Pro EU. Rejoiner. Democracy is under threat, not only from the dictators & authoritarians that occupy the planet, but also from within existing democracies. Private power + wealth is being used to overturn & threaten our democracy.

The US electing Trump is a disaster. A proper US President would have Russia on its knees now, not Russia having Trump on his knees.

Again, the Tories encouraged law breaking, so long as money was being made, is dangerous. A large, underground economy is bad for everyone, except the employers after making a fast buck. They need to be prosecuted and the law enforced, by the agencies responsible. I hope Labour will stop this.

It's the formal surrender of the US to Putin. Trump will hail it a victory, of course. They will agree to pressure Ukraine to capitulate and give Russia all it demands.

I agree. Problem is after 14 years of a free for all and decline in targeting businesses and individuals for breaking the law, there's a lot of catching up to do. The Govt appears to be putting more resources into the NCA and other agencies that deal with this problem.

The BBC continually, stoking the fires of the mob. It's become a national disgrace and morphing into a FOX News style, right wing propaganda channel.

We know what the outcome will be. Putin and Trump will agree that Ukraine must surrender all territory taken by Russia. Trump will declare the outcome a victory and threaten Ukraine if it does not obey.

Looks like Trump is creating a 'private army', loyal to him. Hitler did the same. They were called the SS, loyal to the Fuhrer, not the country.

πŸ˜‚ He's experienced how expendable people are. When he was top of the pile, he fiddled away with the right-wing tunes, but it seems not loud enough for the new boss. Looks like he peddling a new softer line, with a hope of being able to play his fiddle, more in tune in a Murdoch 'orchestra'.

One can predict the outcome. Trump and Putin will agree and the pressure will all be applied on Ukraine, to surrender a large part of their sovereign territory to the aggressor. Trump will hail it a victory, of course.

There has to be the will. After all, this type of behaviour is 'black market', cash in hand & no tax paid, either by the employee, or the employer. Safeguards that normal employees have, do not apply. They also penalise lawful employers & employees. The law should be applied to all, no excuses.

There is a UK, Zoo inspectorate that is responsible for making sure zoo's are humane. I always thought of them as a bit out of date and a legacy of a time when there was no TV/radio & little photography. The public had to go to zoo's to see wild life, even if it is in an artificial setting.

Labour are fixing the foundations of our crumbling school buildings, with a long-term School Rebuilding Programme in place to ensure we build a generation of schools fit for tomorrow, including turning sunlight on school roofs into savings for school budgets.

Problem is, the media always goes for the sensational aspect, ie photos of people being arrested. They're not interested in prosecutions, as there is no 'news' value to them.

The Great VAT Panic Or how not to run a campaign

"The number of private schools [in the UK] has actually increased from 2,421 to 2,456" since VAT was put on their fees.

No calamitous shift of pupils from private schools to state schools, either. In other words, the scare mongering from vested interests was wrong

Ever since Murdoch bought the Times, it has been going downhill slowly. Now, with Tony Gallagher as editor, (formerly editor of the Telegraph and the SUN, two Tory rags). it has taken a plunge into the gutter. The 'Thunderer' is no more.
