Glucagon Receptor Deficiency Causes Early-Onset Hepatic Steatosis
In mice, glucagon regulates lipid metabolism by activating receptors in the liver; however, its role in human lipid metabolism is incompletely understood.
In science is awesome news: Amazing they were able to identify the cause in this family as glucagon missense mutation, show the damage it does and tie it back to a now dead drug class(glucagon antagonists) and why glucagon agonists are the better bet especially for liver disease.

Low cysteine, low GSH, upregulation of the hepatic ISR and OSR with weight loss are reminescent of early liver failure. Intriguing that the proposed application of the science is in obesity management, and begs the question of whether the translational statement has enhanced the paper in this case.
