I know times are tough for many at the moment, but if you’ve been on the fence about signing up to support my channel & the bonus perks aren’t swaying you, please ask yourself over the coming months - is my channel continuing in its current state worth the price of a coffee every month to you?

(For international followers, this wouldn’t even cover rent, let alone expenses and bills, etc.) That’s a pretty reachable goal, and I feel good about reaching it. Depending on tiers, that’s maybe only around another 50 supporters or so.

I’ve made changes in my life as a result to give myself a bit more runway, but the target I’m setting for myself is getting to around £500/month guaranteed income from Patreon / memberships by the end of the year.

Basically, I need this to change, or I won’t be making videos in the way I am now in another year’s time. Either I’ll have to switch to, shorter, quicker (worse) videos, or this channel will have to become a hobby again.

I knew this would make my AdSense earnings take a hit, but I thought if I could show a higher level of quality, more signups would offset this, at least a little. But in fact, my (paid) Patreon memberships are actually down compared to six months ago.

(This has not been helped by in-progress sponsorship deals getting cancelled as a result of my releasing videos concerning Palestine in the meantime. This has happened twice!)

In the months since, I’m confident I’ve made my best work. See pic! I’m very happy with these videos! But, again, my AdSense has taken a nosedive - and like I said, this latest video is the first I’ve managed to get a sponsorship on all year.

At the end of January’s Severance video, I laid out the plan for this year - slower, better videos - and I didn’t ask for anyone else to join my Patreon then. I said wait a few months, let me cook, and if you like what you’re seeing, consider doing so then!

Between Patreon and YouTube memberships I currently make £330 or so a month. That’s helpful, ofc, and I’m very grateful to all my current supporters, but it’s a good deal less than many channels my size, and I’ve been trying to change that this year.

People seem to be liking this video, and I’m very glad! I was also super relieved to get a sponsor on it - but it’s the first one I’ve managed to land all year. Typically, I get by on the basis of YouTube ad money, but for a few months now I’ve been seeing the least AdSense I have for years.
