A photo of Leslie Lee III. He is a Black man in his early 40s with a mustache. He wears a ball cap, glasses, and a black shirt. The text reads, "The Sick Times. Leslie Lee III, culture critic and Long COVID advocate, dies at 43. By Miles W. Griffis."
A screenshot of a message on X: L., MA @leslieleeiii Nov 14 Please read. -YB. All proceeds from the GoFundMe will go to cover funeral costs and as temporary replacement of loss of income. This is YB, @stuffhedoes Leslie's spouse. I am sad to share with you the tragic news of his passing on Monday, November 10th, aged 43. Leslie Lee Ill was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. He left us much too soon. I appreciate your kindness at this time, while we process our grief. If you wish, you can donate directly to his gofundme linked in his profile, any later news I will post from this account. A private service for family is being held this week with a memorial service to be held at a later date in NYC. He was to me, my everything. He was an advocate for others with Long COVID. He was an amazing writer and passionate podcaster.
Leslie Lee III, an educator, critic, and Long COVID advocate, died on November 10.
βHe was one of the few voices in leftist spaces that refused to buy into COVID denialism," Taylor Lorenz told @mileswgriffis.bsky.social. "He was such a strong voice..."

The sheer dedication to avoiding any mention of COVID when talking about things that we know for certain are heavily impacted by COVID is...impressive.
The "after pandemic" bit is a red flag too - someone's either not keeping up, or deliberately trying to manipulate the narrative.

A perfect breakdown of how media manufactured consent for mass disability, death & the "vax and relax" Covid narrative

I was delighted to join the great @DaniAtomicus on her stellar podcast Public Health is Dead. Kayli Jamison, a Long COVID activist in Canada who I much admire, was also featured.
I encourage you all to listen & subscribe to support this excellent work.

Such an honour to be a part of this episode in my favourite podcast with such an incredible production team! I shared a few findings from my Thesis research on news discourses on COVID. Amazing insights from @juliadoubleday.bsky.social & narration from host Daniella really tie it all together π¦

How has the media contributed to manufacturing consent for COVID to be βoverβ (and the decline of public health in general)? New episode ft. @juliadoubleday.bsky.social and @wanderingkayli.bsky.social as well as some comments from former COVID-19 Technical Lead at the WHO, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove

Captured by corporate interests, embraced eugenics (βonly disabled/old/vulnerable people are going to die, donβt worryβ) & ran full tilt into offloading collective responsibility onto individuals. May Leslie and Alice rest in peace. Thinking of their loved ones. They each clearly meant so much to so many people π©· I didnβt know them well but both were super encouraging about the podcast and that meant a lot to me. We will keep fighting for the future they were fighting for
15.11.2025 18:26 β π 51 π 6 π¬ 0 π 0It really seems like this administration is trying to eliminate the field of public health. MPHs and DrPHs will no longer be considered "professional degrees" by the DOE and, therefore, will face limits to accessing federal student loans.

In a statement, CBC told me:
"After reviewing the interview, we concluded that it needed to be re-edited and re-posted to include further context and questions around the procedure and treatment Deacon experienced. That has now been done."
Will update the story with this soon.

[Text on an yellow octagon meant to look like the output of an overhead projector.] The silent erosion of COVID-19 awareness & management in B.C.: A TIMELINE [A timeline of the year 2025 and the January of 2026. Numbered diamonds are placed on the timeline to mark the events below.] 1. April 16: Amount & timeliness of SARS-CoV-2 sample data uploaded to GISAID, an online repository, deteriorate. 2. May: The end of RAT Kit Distribution Program is announced in a professional newsletter. This provided free RAT kits to pharmacies. 3. May 31: RAT kits orders from this day onwards would not be reimbursed. 4. June: The BCCDC page dedicated to how COVID-19 spreads is removed. 5. September 1: Under the BC medical services plan, less than 20 people will be allowed in an online group medical visit. An unknown number of bed- & house-bound people will lose telehealth access to the BC-CLMF, a long COVID & ME/CFS clinic. Implementation delayed until January. 6. September 15: Vancouver Sun publishes a sponsored article, suggesting the program responsible for generating SARS-CoV-2 data from wastewater samples would be expanded & describes the then-current state of the program. 7. September 18: The wastewater surveillance program is cut: 8 of 12 wastewater treatment plants will no longer be monitored, and 1 sample will be taken per week instead of 3. 8. October 14: The year's vaccination campaign begins to widespread shortages.
I have been trying to raise awareness about the recent cuts to pandemic preparedness by provincial institutions in BC for the past 1Β½ months. Most of the cuts were not announced to the public beforehand and media coverage has been scant. 1/?
