It’s not fair. When I first saw them going up years ago around Central Park I knew there would be more. And what they stand for is pretty hideous as well.

Astronomer here! If anyone needs a distraction, check out the GORGEOUS radio galaxies MeerKAT in South Africa imaged this weekend that were incidentally in my field of view. Both host supermassive black holes shooting material at relativistic speeds, hundreds of millions of light years away...

The image features a pair of interacting galaxies, an elliptical and a spiral, caught in the early stages of a merger. The pair is named Arp 107. The collision distorted the shapes of the galaxies, creating a tenuous gas bridge between them and a tidal tail.
