Isn’t that a good thing?

Well, not for this reason at least.

Because the book it’s based on is set before the previous movie. I’m glad they just ran with it though, YOLT doesn’t hold up too well these days (production design aside) but I watch OHMSS every Xmas.

The editing is amazing! The way they did the fight scenes pretty much laid the groundwork for how contemporary action scenes are cut.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t see this in the cinema, but it definitely belongs in this thread because I do remember numerous people owning the VHS in the 90s. I even saw it on TV once, god knows what channel was showing it.

I’m not a Nolan fanboy but I do think his various Batmobile scenes all justified themselves narratively; particularly in the first two films.

My issue with The Batman chase is that it feels very tacked on. It ends bombastically with the highway explosion (presumably with innocent casualties) and then the film just cuts away as if nothing of consequence happened; the chase itself doesn’t integrate with the narrative in any way.

Mia Goth’s silly hats will probably take this one home

I’d argue it was the fallout from 9/11 which led to Trump and in turn the fall of the American empire. Bin Laden succeeded.

Depending on which way the wind is blowing, this might be my favourite Carpenter. But actually picking just one is an impossible choice; if I ever voted in that Sight & Sound Top 100 list I’d probably have five of his films in there.

Who exactly is being selfish here; the author who ran out of inspiration or you, the reader, demanding a canonised fan fiction ending to something you had no hand in creating?

Also I’ve spoken to multiple people who had no idea this was a different film to 28 Years Later, so unless you’re actually following these films clearly the marketing hasn’t broke through.

Well, they have opened it in the mid January graveyard slot for some reason. Also I enjoyed the previous film but there were plenty of (wrong) people who hated it for not being a conventional zombie film.

If you asked me which one I actually wanted to watch, I’d choose The Fog over Halloween every single time.

I like them all, but it’s definitely Christine. It has less personality, at least partially due to the score not being as memorable as his other films. I absolutely adore The Fog, it’s so atmospheric.

This is why we need to age restrict social media. Nobody needs to be accidentally arguing with kids who think the loudest, brightest and most recent version of a thing is the best. We’ve all been there in our own youth. I used to prefer Ghostbusters 2.

Nah, Temple still rules. Best momentum of the series.

It’s more like you’ve gone from being seen like a lunatic racist uncle to an actual rabid dog

Who said Avatar wasn’t childish? Nobody. I simply pointed out that maybe people who build their entire personalities around pretending to be cartoon characters should be less judgemental of what childish films other people enjoy, and it rattled you so much there’s now three of you getting defensive.

04.01.2026 15:16 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The insecurity of your projection is wild, nobody is calling Avatar mature.

04.01.2026 15:08 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think you’re projecting, nobody used that word but you.

I think you’ve missed the point I was making, which was it’s ironic that accounts with visibly childish taste in media (yours included) are so quick to judge others for what they watch. You’re in a glass house, maybe you shouldn’t be throwing rocks at people for enjoying the silly blue alien movies.

Ironic coming from an account posing as a video game character with a page full of anime and JRPG drivel.

A world where its contemporaries are Star Wars and Marvel.

New ambition in life; program one of those Boston Dynamics gun dogs to go back in time and terminate whoever first tweeted that particular phrase in relation to Avatar.

Some films are just so specifically acclimatised to the cinema experience that they don’t really work elsewhere; Gravity required your entire field of vision and Dunkirk relied on a wall of sound from the approaching bombers. At home you might as well be watching a YouTube video of a rollercoaster.

27.12.2025 19:33 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I swear for many of the people claiming this it translates to a lack of cheap merchandised tat, since apparently a film isn’t real unless nerds have filled their homes with plastic rubbish based on it. I’m happy engage with the Avatar films as what they actually are; cinematic events.
