Immunity. They can't be prosecuted. Just do it.
I think you can add AP News to that list, and, while this is newer, ProPublica.
Although arguably, propublica is still pretty small and relatively unknown.
Yes - the founders wanted sovereignty to remain, ultimately, with The People, and the jury box is our way to be the final check and balance on government power run amok.

In a negotiation, if you shift your demands too much, especially when other people are feeling the pain, you might start to take the blame for the shutdown continuing longer.
So far, voters have CLEARLY signaled that they are WITH Dems on the ACA premiums/credit issue. Stay with that.
If you shift
Answer: All the Republicans crying about Mamdani. π
I love it when a story has a happy ending.
What's just especially hilarious about this is the people threatening to leave "The People's Socialist Republic of NYC" are all conservatives - mostly Republicans, maybe some wealthy, conservative Democrats.
07.11.2025 22:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well known image, cartoon of guy riding a bicycle holding a stick in his hand. As he's riding, he leans over and shoves the stick through the spokes of his front wheel. Predictably, he falls, and we see the bike on the ground, and him on the ground next to the bike, holding his leg in pain from his self-inflicted injury.

07.11.2025 21:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You know, I want to say I think it's deliciously ironic that you had Greg Abbott a couple days ago saying he was going to "impose a 100% tariff on any New Yorkers moving to Texas after the election", when it's only Republicans threatening to leave "The People's Socialist Republic of NYC". π

I, for one, am tired of so much money going to fascists for things people don't actually NEED.
Sometimes you HAVE to do business with fascists, it's unavoidable... But not for entertainment.
Toxic masculinity in general seems pretty obsessed with this.

Hegseth's actual statement though, as stated, isn't saying we are at war, or going to war, but that we are going to be prepared for war.
If feeling charitable, this could be interpreted as...
NYC is 9% Muslim. 9%.
Even if the Muslim population doubled, it would be less than 18% (unless a bunch of other people CHOOSE to leave).
That's if other religious/racial groups didn't also grow.
In reality, it's unlikely the Muslim population could double, due to lack of housing and jobs for them
I will keep saying this: Trump is murdering innocent people.
Someone might object: "How do you know they are innocent?"
Me: Because, as a matter of law, everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. They never got a trial, and are dead now. so Trump murdered innocent people. QED
Are new build codes for proposed single stairwell buildings, always mandating elevators? We need to make all housing accessible to disabled people. Historically, many multi-level buildings did not have elevators, but that needs to change.

Indexing doesn't necessarily have to mean exact equivalence.
Maybe there is a base pay, plus a bonus based on how much they increase median pay or lower median cost of housing?
What do you think about the idea of indexing mayor, city council, legislator, etc pay to some sort of metric, like gdp-equivalent for their city/state, or median income, etc?
