Two decades after a small Duke breast cancer vaccine trial, every participant is still alive — a rare outcome for metastatic disease. When researchers looked closer, they found the women’s immune systems still carried “memory” cells that recognised the cancer. buff.ly/MNeRhJh

STONEBIRD :

After much thought, Linda and I have decided not to sell my Carer books anymore. Instead I am making them available as a free download on Stonebird.

If you do download the books and they help, please do let us know.

Each book took massive time and effort to create, with contributions to two of the books from very ill people around the world.

All of them were written with immense care to convey the complexity and skill of being with someone who is extremely, unimaginably ill.

The books are :

NOTES FOR CARERS : I wanted to make a beautiful, easily accessible, informative guide, it includes contributions from Kara Jane Spencer and Merryn Croft, much loved and much missed.

MORE NOTES FOR CARERS : This is our most comprehensive, in-depth guide.

CARE FOR ME: This pocketbook guide sets out to gently and tenderly show how you can grow and learn as a carer and look after yourself too.

Please see Stonebird for more information.

With love and respect to all who struggle to get the right care and understanding.

this is a really important point. the district courts are trying to contain this administration. the circuits, by and large, are still working, with the occasional exception of the 5th, 8th, and DC circuits.

the Supreme Court is on an island. lawless and completely rogue.

we need more reform than just Supreme Court reform, but they really are 90% of the problem, if not more

Psychology says the reason older people stop caring isn't apathy—it's actually the highest form of self-awareness You’ve probably noticed it in someone you know. When I first noticed that I'd stopped caring about things that were once intensely important to me, I was initially concerned but I realized it was maturity.

I feel a lot better knowing this is a natural progression for a lot of people(including me). Doesn't seem to work that way for some older people though(thinking of some relatives of mine).

BC residents have shrinking access to family doctors, despite more doctors - CCPA Primary care access is declining in BC. With a new provincial budget on the way, how has spending on doctors affected it?

I'll be in #BCpoli Budget 2026 lock-up with @marclee.bsky.social

I'll be watching all things health care, including primary care

BC is spending big on its new family doc model, but it's not delivering

Will we see a pivot to Community Health Centres?

Without his throne, Trump is a felonious criminal at large.
Expect any and every outrage in his quest to stay in power.
He will force us to forcibly remove him.
He will be a flight risk.

Holding the line will not be easy.

State governors and legislature need to actively fortify their elections against federal interference…from ICE, voter roll manipulation and frivolous lawsuits.

Voters need to prepare for harassment and intentional process breakdowns, especially in red states.

They know the stakes.

This time it isn’t simply about going back to being the minority opposition, spewing bullshit on Fox News and Twitter.

They’ve crossed too many lines.

Broken too many laws.

Hurt too many people.

This time they know they’ll have to face accountability.

It would bring their techno authoritarian agenda to a grinding halt.

Put their billions in jeopardy.

It’s why they will never allow it.

They’ll throw every voter suppression tactic at the election.

If that fails, they’ll manufacture reasons to deny the results, or the election entirely.

If we have free and fair midterm elections, Democrats will likely regain majorities in both the House and Senate.

Here’s a sampling of what would happen then:

- Impeachments:

Of Trump and some in his cabinet, especially Bondi, Patel, Vought and Noem. Pick any multitude of their crimes.

Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

This is why overly complicated doomer scenarios about Trump's 51 step plan to cancel elections are just fantasy. Not because Trump doesn't want to cancel elections, but mostly because the actual plan is probably.

1. Lie about everything
2. We think people actually love us
3. ICE?
4. ???
5. Profit

One concept almost everyone who doesn't work logistics fails to understand is scale.

Things that function great on a small scale can quickly become a nightmare scaled up.

The more moving parts an operation has, the more likely something breaks down catastrophically.

I'm a financial advisor.

Humans are *very bad* at tracking, contextualizing, and understanding spending.

Like 80%+ of my clients who claim to live "paycheck to paycheck" have also immediately upgraded [car/house/electronics] significantly after minor pay increases.

This is partly true. But I’d add it’s because unionists, abolitionists, and black people have been excluded from the accepted narrative on southern culture. There are probably 500 people who know who Robert E Lee is for every person who has even heard the name “David Farragut” once in their lives.
