In pursuit of waging this war, the Dutch would invent the stock holding company, laying the tracks for the running train that would become capitalism. The very function and idea of the monarch as the indisputable emissary of God Almighty would be fractured from the heat of the battles.

Anyways, TL;DR on why railguns are bad and better technology will not make them viable:

- All that extra kinetic energy gets wasted on overpen, so the only advantage over normal guns is range
- Terrible barrel lifetimes make it expensive
- Missiles are just better anyways

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

This illustration shows the gas giant Saturn with some of its many satellites in front. In the foreground is Rhea, the second largest moon of this planet, after Titan. With a mean diameter of 1528 km (764 miles), Rhea is about half the size of our own Moon. Its surface is heavily cratered, with two very large impact basins and numerous fractures. Its density suggests it is made up of about one-quarter rock and three-quarters water ice. Four other Saturnian moons can be seen in the distance, close to the ring plane. From left to right they are Dione, Mimas, Enceladus and Tethys.

An artist's impression of Charon as it might appear from the surface of Pluto. In this depiction, Charon's phase is new - i.e. the Sun is directly behind it. Therefore Charon is only visible by the faint sunlight that Pluto reflects onto it from the Sun. Because Pluto and Charon are tidally locked, they keep the same face towards each other at all times, as the Moon does to the Earth. So if one stood on Charon (or Pluto) the other world would stay fixed in the sky - never setting or rising, but still cycling through its phases. And if one were on the wrong hemisphere of Pluto (or Charon) one would never see the other world. The New Horizons probe recently revealed that Pluto has clouds in its atmosphere, as this illustration depicts.

Illustration of a coronal mass ejection emanating from the Sun. These events, CMEs for short, are powerful releases of solar charged particles (plasma) and magnetic field, travelling on the solar wind. When a CME hits Earth, it can cause a geomagnetic storm which disrupts the planet’s magnetosphere, our radio transmissions and electrical power lines. They can damage artificial satellites and cause long-lasting power outages. Humans in orbit are also very vulnerable to these events, whose high-energy particles are not shield by typical spacecraft.

Did you know that there are 113 games tagged "mecha" released this year alone on steam that DON'T have a big "AI GENERATED DISCLOSURE" sticker?

Here's a thread of 10 awesome mech-related games from THIS YEAR that DON'T use genai, and instead stick to good ol fashioned fictional evil robots!

A spaceship consisting of a central spindle and a ring with six inflatable modules attached.

Lunar Liner, sometime in the 2100s. The whole ship would spin around its axis to provide some artificial gravity to the six inflatable passenger modules. The ship would be boosted via space tug to the moon, then return to pick up more passengers before being boosted again.

Four image comic of Calvin and Hobbes.

On top left, Calvin's father saying to Calvin: "Playing male fantasies? I'll show you something interesting."

On top right, Calvin's father saying to Calvin: "the two types of male fantasy are emotional death and fishing. all fantasies fall into these two categories. weeping in your lover's arms? emotional death. digging a big hole? fishing"
Calvin: "Yeah..."

On bottom left, Calvin's father continuing: "Heroic last stand? emotional death. Boy's bathroom choir? Fishing.

Although it frequently features peaceful contemplation of natural beauty, Frodo's quest to mordor was actually an emotional death. ANd despite featuring death, suffocating as your lover sits on your face is actually fishing."

Calvin on bottom right staring at horror into the neverending darkness.

They much prefer a 100 million-ton first rate, carrying triple decks of carronades, light and heavy long guns.
