Was 2025 Oscar Piastriโ€™s best chance at an F1 title or a prelude to glory? | Jack Snape The young Australian is a gifted driver racing in an exceptional car, but was prone to error this season and in 2026 will face new adversity Tumbling from the Formula One precipice, ultimately Oscar Piastri was not the first Australian in 40 years to be crowned world champion. The man from Melbourne finished a narrow third in the driver standings this year behind his McLaren teammate Lando Norris and four-time champion Max Verstappen. Now, he is back to square one. Midway through the season Piastri lead Norris by a comfortable 34 points and Verstappen by a chasm. But a run of six rounds without a podium left him on the outside looking in, and by the end at Abu Dhabi he finished 13 points behind his teammate. Continue reading...

McDonaldโ€™s AI Hiring Bot Exposed Millions of Applicantsโ€™ Data to Hackers Who Tried the Password โ€˜123456โ€™ Basic security flaws left the personal info of tens of millions of McDonaldโ€™s job-seekers vulnerable on the โ€œMcHireโ€ site built by AI software firm Paradox.ai.

McDonald's uses an AI bot called "Olivia" for hiring. A pair of hackers found they could access every conversation job applicants had with itโ€”including all the personal info they sharedโ€”by exploiting security vulnerabilities as basic as using the password "123456". www.wired.com/story/mcdona...

apart from its inherent qualities as a comic strip, I really appreciate that Watterson resisted the urge to franchise and merchandise C&H. There's no animated movie, no tv show, no line of toys, no ipad game.

it exists in its entirety as a comic strip written and drawn entirely by one man.

5-panel comic. (1) [teacher with long hair next to whiteboard] TEACHER: Iโ€™m supposed to give you the tools to do good science. (2) [teacher addressing students] But what *are* those tools? Methodology is hard and there are so many ways to get incorrect results. What is the magic ingredient that makes for good science? (3) TEACHER: To figure it out, I ran a regression with all the factors people say are important: [embedded list in sub-panel, cut off at end] Outcome variable: correct scientific results. Predictors: collaboration; skepticism of othersโ€™ claims; questioning your own beliefs; trying to falsify hypotheses; checking citations; statistical rigor; blinded analysis; financial disclosure; open data (4) TEACHER: The regression says two ingredients are the most crucial: 1) genuine curiosity about the answer to a question, and 2) ammonium hydroxide. (5) STUDENT: Wait, why did *ammonia* score so high? How did it even get on the list? LONG HAIR: ...And now youโ€™re doing good science!

Quite a lot of discussion around @bsky.app here at #KubeCon, and consensus that it was @kelseyhightower.com 's clear exit from the other place that was the tipping point for the cloud native community coming over here en masse. Thank you Kelsey for your leadership in this and so many other ways.
