I think the Supreme Court is a reflection of what is broken in general - we have relied on norms with the expectation that elected officials would act in good faith in the best interests of the country. It’s clear that isn’t workable any longer so our norms need to be codified across the board.

I think part of what you are trying to do here is give an explanation not an excuse. To say, “yes, be angry and hold him accountable, but also recognize the pathology.” To a certain extent place equal or even more blame on the people who propped up that pathology as the individual impacted by it.
