Discovery of functional NLRs using expression level, high-throughput transformation and large-scale phenotyping
Nature Plants - Rapid discovery of functional resistance genes is enabled by a high-expression signature and high-throughput transformation. This approach identified 31 new resistance genes for...
Super excited to see our work on the NLRseek program finally published π₯³ Here we identify new NLRs against major wheat pathogens and present a pipeline for NLR identification. Huge thank you to all of the co-authors for bringing this work together! @matthewmoscou.bsky.social rdcu.be/eIGvv

Illustration of four diverse students presenting their final Python course projects in a classroom. A projector screen behind them displays the course title 'PYTHON COURSE' with four project topics: 'Extraction of Genomic Features', 'Development of Molecular Markers from Sequence Variants', 'Analysis of Large Citation Data Sets', and 'Cleaning of FASTA Files'. Two audience members are visible from behind, listening attentively. The students are holding laptops or notes and appear confident and engaged.
Wrapping up our #Python course with inspiring student project presentations! π Topics range from bioinformatics to big data.

White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion
The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.
I think some people hear βgrantsβ and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.
βPausingβ grants means people donβt eat.

Viewpoint: Crop biotechnology is Chinaβs next leap forward in βsmart agricultureβ
Between 1990 and 2009, China's agricultural labor decreased by 5 percent while agricultural productivity increased by 6.5 percent a year. However,
βAll major national academies of sciences say that genetically modified crops are as safe as traditional crops.β Still, regulations have curbed GMO adoption, limiting gains for farmers.
