Allegheny County Council punts vote on permit fee increase Plans to hike permitting fees for industrial polluters have been put on hold while council support wavers.

I have asthma, and struggle with Pittsburgh's polluted air.

It takes time and trained staff to review and issue permits (and fines) for polluting industries. Allegheny County needs to raise permit fees be able to do this better.

Do they make mask extenders or whatever you call those things that keep the loops off your ears that aren't ugly plastic? My migraines make my scalp so sensitive that sometimes it's uncomfortable even to wear my glasses. I've been using hair clips but they keep breaking.

I heard some people act as though it was overly dramatic to do hurriedly download all of the government data that we might need before the new administration takes over.

I read this quote a decade ago in the book, “The News: a Users Manual” and it stuck with me enough that I went back to find it. In short, it posits that a would-be dictator could suppress the news or flood the zone with a tsunami of nonsense. By either strategy, it kills people’s resolve to act.

Fun fact: there are more than twice as many cis white women in the United States than Black people, Indigenous people, trans people, Muslims, Arab Americans, and Jews COMBINED.
