The only name that made me groan inwardly more then Don Heck's name in the credits of a comic as a kid and teenager was "inked by Vince Coletta" *shudder*. Heck"s 60s stuff for Marvel was pretty decent. Early 70s onwards..not so great. hat a jarring contrast, Primo Perez and 70s Heck.

Fantastic series which was "nd", non distributed in the UK much to kid and teen he's frustration.

Man, that gutter loss is brutal. Mind you whenever I read V and Marvel/miracleman when I can, I dig out all my Warriors that I bought on release in the UK and read it in the original black and white magazine till it was discontinued. Then I read issue 7 onwards in the original DC trade.

Marv, I'm going to make sure you get your contribution to the story" so after he put the phone down he carefully removed 35 pages of captions and word balloons pasted onto the artwork, put them in an envelope and posted them to Marv 😁 Read that in a TCJ interview PCR did back in the day. 3/3

As he was about your agree to this, Marv made the mistake of imlpying he was going to go over PCR's head to the editor. This angered PCR so much he said to my don't worry..2/3

Back in those days the art used to get divided between the penciler inker and some to writer. In this case PCR inked the story and he was really happy with the work and wanted to keep all the artwork Marv kept hassling him saying "I deserve some because of the my contribution to the 1/3

That series was very much a reaction by Alan Moore to the right-wing Conservative Margaret Thatcher government we suffered through in the 1980s here in the UK. The themes are eternal though, as we are finding out now unfortunately.

First DD with Miller artwork I bought as a kid. Great story.
