I am running to be Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.
As a proud working-class woman from the North East, I have come from a tough council street all the way to the Cabinet.
I will be a strong voice to unite our Party, take the fight to Reform, and deliver for our country.

Thanks to everyone that attended the first meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Healthy Places, chaired by @drbeccycoopermp.bsky.social.
The event heard from businesses, trade unions and public health professionals about how we can ensure that workplaces make us all healthier.

Wes Streeting to ask employers to pay for more staff medical checks
UK government wants to boost workplace preventive health measures to cut spending on hospital care
Great to see Government are thinking about how they can work with businesses to do more to keep people healthy.
As @rsph.bsky.social have argued, too many workers - especially in lower paid or manual jobs - don't get this support at work, which drives worse outcomes.

Britons want to talk about their health, contrary to popular belief β report
There's an incorrect perception that the UK shies away from health conversations, researcher says
The public want people working in public facing roles to be trained to have conversations about physical and mental health, our new report has found.
We need to get people talking about health if we want to encourage positive behaviour change. π¬

Too often, people want to make healthy choices, but find themselves boxed in by circumstances - from the cost of living crisis to poor quality housing.
At @rsph.bsky.social we're committed to changing that - using every place we spend time to empower people to make the healthy choices they want.

Not sure it was that one I'm afraid, but the dog looks similar (as does Joseph). I think he'd been talking to one of the guards on the gate, so might be worth contacting the station? - sorry I can't be more helpful with where he might have gone afterwards.

Hiya - I think I saw him leaving Bristol Parkway station at about 1055 this morning - was wearing a bright multicoloured jacket and had a small dog with him.

15 years ago, @wflabour.bsky.social were the first council in the country to ban fast food takeaways near schools. Growing up there, you could see the difference it made - and is still making - and it's great to see the Govt learning from east London again.
