There came a point where I started wondering if the Tories were consciously self-sabotaging because they were making such mystifyingly inexcusable blunders. I'm at this point now with Labour.

I know what my departmental page says about my books because I wrote the page. You shouldn't quote it back to me.

This often seems to benefit more affluent areas. Take Burnley. Most homes cost £125,000 and are in the lowest band A. They pay roughly £1,337 a year in council tax.

Compare that to Westminster, where the average house price is just shy of £1mn. They pay an average £1,057.

It's alarming to see the Tories pivoting to "we're offering the same bonfire of society as Reform, but we're the only ones who actually have the experience and competence to make it burn" as their platform

A few observations:

1. This will take a while to filter through to the consumer downstream. Don't expect prices in the supermarket to be coming down anytime soon.

2. This crisis has brought into focus the institutional inequities of the cocoa market, but have the necessary lessons been learned?
