I won’t believe that Tricia McLaughlin has been fired until I hear Tricia McLaughlin deny that she has been fired.

what if i told you, through the power of forensic analysis, we are closer than ever to knowing the exact Far Side cartoon that is making Sting smile in this iconic photo. 🧡 πŸ‘‡

Why do so many homosexual expressions refer to food?
Food seems to have a mysterious fascination for homosexuals.
Many of the world's greatest chefs have been homosexuals. Some of the country's best restaurants are run by homosexuals. Some of the fattest people are homosexuals.

Happy Fat Tuesday from this (incredibly, real) paragraph in the book Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (But Were Afraid to Ask)

Laughing at this because it literally says at the bottom that it’s not from the Black Panthers, it’s from the New American movement, one of the ancestors of the DSA. It’s not wrong, but I think some people think the Black Panthers are just anything they agree with.

I absolutely agree.

However, talking about who to vote for in the 2028 primary itself is still *vastly* more useful than talking about how to vote in the 2028 general if a particular candidate wins that primary. Everyone in those conversations is just borrowing trouble.

Un cartel sobre tres postes, formado por dos carteles blancos, haciendo esquina. En el de la izquierda pone "Choose life" y en el de la derecha "Abortion kills!, pero viΓ©ndolo de frente se lee "Choose Abortion Life Kills!".

I’d have much more tolerance for YouTube ads if they didn’t insert them randomly into the middle of sentences and whatnot.

Found his r/guycry thread and the responses are generally pretty compassionate, encouraging him to see the positive changes he made in his life as his own rather than as just the result of the chatbot’s encouragement.

I seem to do a rewatch every time it gets released on a new streaming service (even the late unlamented go90).

B5 is annoyingly relevant in 2026.

One of the best sf shows ever made, Babylon 5, is being released on YouTube by Beyond Infinity in collab w/ WB. And it's upscaled!

One ep every few days.

Seasons 3-4 are masterpieces, but if you've never seen the show, you can start now!

I’d obviously still want someone like Pritzker to win and be terrified of them losing, but I think I’d be able to deal with the ups and downs of the day to day news cycle with more detachment.

I suspect a potential AOC presidential run would be like going to see a friend’s improv show for me: I’d be so emotionally invested in her doing well that I’d want to hide behind a couch.

That is, of course, a me problem.

It's a digital version of literally just dividing your cash into envelopes dedicated to specific expenses, "electricity bill" "food" "rent" etc so that you know for a fact you are not such as dipping into your bill money by spending your food money. You'd have to actively choose to do so.

Honestly, I need to start using something to track expenses and do some budgeting, but their ads focusing almost exclusively on such cancellations dissuaded me from considering that app.

Great piece from @dsquareddigest.bsky.social, which touches on one of the big theories for why English-speaking countries do especially badly at housebuilding:

Adversarial and litigious common law systems (Anglo) vs judge-led civil law systems elsewhere.
