08.11.2025 15:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Samhain cross-quarter today, Nov. 7. Locally-harvested venison tenders, kabocha squash from a local garden, and fresh water: a delicious Friday supper after sundown. Hot tea later this eve. House and yard prepped for the first snowfall tonight. Winter has arrived on the prairie. π¨οΈπ¨οΈπ¨οΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
08.11.2025 00:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0No, they haven't, but back in the '80s & '90s out here in the small American prairie towns, you couldn't find one. The only place one could still find new records was the store that sold musical instruments. I never saw a large record store until I lived in Japan at the end of the 20th century.

02.11.2025 20:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm sorry. Out here on the prairie, the dollar stores are sometimes the only place to shop in small rural towns, and grocery retailers like Walmart and HyVee, if there is even one within 100 miles, are even more expensive.

A tall umbrella tree sits next to floor to ceiling windows covered in sheer curtains and lit up with warm white fairy lights.
I've put up the winter lights. They usually stay on from October until March, to help us get through the dark Icelandic days and nights.
