Didn't this guy make Prey? Prey was good.

We watched this in theater. While I didn't hate it, it definitely was the family movie that I wasn't expecting.

This morning I wrapped up soundscaping Act 3. Here's a clip where I recorded myself for a couple of tracks. My VO work on this is limited to nonverbal stuff: gasps, grunts, breathing...still fun though!

Doing some old file spelunking, found these in the depths.
There is no trace of their context, only the purity of the message.

Life is just going to happen to you and it's going to interrupt whatever it is that you are doing.
And that's OK.
and life isn't going to look like your ideal because we live in a capitalist hellscape.
That's also OK, because life should be defined not by how we fall short of ideals but by what we can do with what we have. Which is a lot. Limitation breeds creativity, etc.
A line from my game is, "what is life if not the furious rebellion against unmaking?"
The point of life isn't to reach an ideal.
It's to -LIVE-, whatever that looks like day to day for you.

What is the opposite of the "White Gaze"?

What is the opposite of the "White Gaze"?

There is no single opposite of the white gaze because it isn't just a perspective, it's a structure of power. You can't simply reverse it and call that justice.
That said, there are ways of looking that act as real counterforces rather than mirror images.
The most accurate is the returned gaze when the person or culture that is looked at becomes conscious of being watched and looks back. Instead of trying to explain itself or appear interesting/acceptable, it stops performing and disrupts the comfort of the observer. Looking is not neutral, but tied to power. The returned gaze refuses to make itself easily readable or understandable on the viewer's terms.
Another strong counter is the self-defined gaze. This is when people represent themselves on their own terms, not as a response to whiteness but as a refusal to centre it at all. The white gaze expects to be explained to; the self-defined gaze doesn't seek permission or validation. It speaks to itself, to its own community, or alongside others.
Bad Bunny's Super Bowl performance is an example of this.
Performing in Spanish on one of the most watched stages in the world, he did not translate or adjust his performance for an English-speaking audience. The discomfort that followed came not from exclusion, but from the sudden loss of cultural entitlement.
Some call this the decolonial gaze. Rather than reversing hierarchy, it dismantles it. It rejects whiteness as the default viewer and questions why some cultures are expected to be explained/translated, while others simply exist. Since Bad Bunny's performance was on a corporate stage, some argue it can't be purely anti-colonial.
The diaspora gaze is entangled with the white gaze because it's shaped by Western upbringing. The non-white gaze isn't an opposite either, because it still defines itself in relation to whiteness.
So if the white gaze says, "I see you, therefore I know you," its opposite says, "You are not entitled to know me."
