βTo be embodied means that we are guided by our instincts, whilst simultaneously having the opportunity to be self-aware of that guidance. This self-awareness requires us to recognize and track our sensations and feelings. π§΅

Supporting schools to support nature connectedness - edpsy.org.uk
I (Nicole) grew up on the western coast of Canada, where the mountains meet the sea, and it is impossible...
edpsy.org.uk/blog/2025/su... proud to share this amazing article by my friends and colleagues Nicole Harris and Bee Hartwell β¨ prioritising connection with nature outside and within us is so vital for our wellbeing, learning and attention: definitely the business of schools. Give it a read π«Άπ»π±

Excellent thesis by a colleague, Rebecca Wright, about colonial 'haunting' of Educational Psychology. I am still reading it, and so far it is super powerful and utterly brilliant.

An illustrative and surreal image featuring a black cat silhouette against a gradient purple background. Inside the cat's body, a staircase of smaller cats ascends, representing the concept of "parts" from Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. The larger cat wears a striped beanie, and the text "Mental Health for the Common Good" is prominently displayed to its right. The Seshio logo is in the bottom right corner, and it says to Learn more at Seshio.org.
The idea of IFS is simple but radical: your mind isn't a single entity, it's a constellation of different "parts". We're not here to pathologize or "fix" you. Instead, we're here to help you get to know the unique inner community you already have,. It's about a conversation, not a conquest. π€

Something I find fascinating is how some people have started using the word 'instruction' rather than 'education'. I think its probably linked to the idea that learning = memory and that this is being 'delivered' to learners, rather than learning being a relational, interactive experience.

That is awesome. We are so victims of our conditioning until we start the exploration of our biases and burdens. IFS is such a helpful tool for doing that β¨

Maybe not in your camp of interest but "No Bad Parts" by Dr. Schwartz, who developed the IFS model of healing. Life Changing.
The only thing that permanently helped me with my inner issues. IMHO should be compulsory reading if you're human. It's eye-opening and nails how the subconscious works π§

Perspective taking involves examining our own lenses that shape our perception especially when cultural stories have often come from dominant cultures, which likely serve privilege and power. Questioning our need to KNOW is a part of this process. Being a learner (curious, donβt know mind) is key

Thinking holistically needs to extend to our own profession too
So, I said I would come back to this article and post shared by the DECP and therefore I probably should. You can see a paywall free version of the article here.
I wrote something - kinda a rambling of various thoughts after an...interesting article in iPaper last week
TLDR - We need to extend systems thinking to our own profession. We're too small to be divided. We need diverse voice at media and policy level

Private firms paid 'millions' in SEND cash as cost of child assessments rockets
Taxpayersβ money 'sucked' out of system by agencies poaching educational psychologists to conduct online assessments of childrenβs needs
Important considerations about remote assessments and the impact on quality, as well as privatisation of EP work.
I always find seeing how the child interacts with the school context to be a valuable piece of information.
