Two-page letter from Harvard Human Resources addressed to the Harvard community. It informs recipients that on July 8, 2025, Harvard received a Notice of Inspection (NOI) and related subpoena from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to inspect I-9 employment eligibility forms and supporting documentation for Harvard employees. Initially thought to concern a few dozen employees in Massachusetts Hall, DHS later clarified it applies to all current Harvard employees and anyone employed within the past 12 months. The letter distinguishes this request from prior subpoenas and references the federal I-9 process.

On the second page, Harvard states it is not providing I-9 records for student-only employment roles while evaluating whether FERPA permits such disclosure. It has asked DHS to confirm that any records produced will be securely maintained, accessed only by authorized personnel, and used solely for legal purposes. The letter concludes with a note to contact local HR offices for questions and provides a link to FAQs.

Harvard has just informed all employees that DHS has sent a subpoena requesting access to all i-9 records for Harvard employees and that they turned them over to the Trump admin with some exceptions

I donโ€™t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make whatโ€™s happening now look like childโ€™s play. And people are disappearing.

I have a friend who is an exvangelical and she put it very succinctly: โ€œWe donโ€™t believe anyone else is human. You are not people to us.โ€

Once you understand this CORE BELIEF and put it into context with the fact that these folks are running our country you can understand clearly their motivations.

State Department set to launch โ€˜Office of Remigrationโ€™ The concept of remigration has explicitly neo-Nazi roots and has been popularized in Europe.

SCOOP: The State Department's new reorganization plan includes the opening of an "Office for Remigration," a term popularized by far right extremists and neo-Nazis in Europe. The office will coordinate directly with DHS "to advance the Presidentโ€™s immigration agenda."

Trump Is Trying to Deport Students Who Show Up in a โ€˜Criminal Records Check.โ€™ But Many Have Never Been Convicted What began with Mahmoud Khalil has now expanded into widespread immigration status revocations with no explanation and little apparent recourse.

NEWS: It began with Mahmoud Khalil. Now the Trump admin is trying to deport *hundreds* of students by vaguely saying they have criminal recordsโ€”making them guess why.
Some have traffic violations. Some didn't even commit a crime.

One's "criminal record"? Apparently being a domestic violence victim.

A concrete ask for every department head: commit to checking SEVIS portal every day.

Student visa revocation emails go to address they applied with - potentially consultants/brokers. Correct & current info is a specific, urgent need.

If you don't have access, find out who does & make same ask.

It's not discussed in all the stories. But a key feature of the revocation of student visas is that there's no notification. This has forced universities to do regular online reviews of current visas to see which have disappeared since the previous query. The lack of notification is by design.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TRUMPโ€™S TARIFFS
The quick version.
On April 2, Trump announced sweeping tariffs on every country except Russia, North Korea, Cuba,
and Belarus. Tariffs are a tax that are paid by the importer when goods enter our country. Prices on
everyday items will increase radically and responsive tariffs will harm US businesses. Ask your
federal representatives (numbers at reps.fyi) to revoke Trumpโ€™s ability to apply tariffs.
Who pays tariffs?
The country of origin does not pay tariffs. Whoever is importing the goods in the US pays the tariff,
and passes the cost along to regular consumersโ€”in other words, we, the people will pay the tariff.
How did Trump calculate his tariffs?
Trumpโ€™s tariff sheet claims that countries charge the US exorbitant tariffs. This is a lie. The number he
lists has nothing to do with tariffs, but is instead a trade deficit ratio, calculated as the dollar amount
we import from that country divided by the amount we export to that country.
What is the difference between a trade deficit and a tariff?
Trade deficits are not tariffs. We buy more from some countries than they buy from us because many
Americans have disposable income and purchasing power. It is not possible, or beneficial, for
countries to have perfectly balanced imports and exports.
What impact will this have on your life?
You will pay more for everything you buy, and American businesses will lose overseas customers.
The last time America passed sweeping tariffs was in 1930; this is part of what made the Great
Depression last so long. Trumpโ€™s tariffs are higher than the failed 1930 tariffs.
Who is responsible?
โ€ข Donald Trump and his cabinet for imposing the tariffs.
โ€ข Every Senator and Representative who fails to block Trumpโ€™s tariffs.
What can you do?
