What variety do you have? We have Brown Turkey and we’ve had 6 from the greenhouse so far, but we transplanted the outdoor one this year so I don’t think we’ll have any from there

My first border tulips of the year have got their party clothes on 🌷

I sowed beans, tomatoes and peppers (all for greenhouse growing) last weekend. Beans are pushing up but not quite out yet, and tomatoes broke the surface sometime between yesterday morning and now. Exciting times!

My dad owned a second hand/antiquarian bookshop and I basically grew up in it. Stepping into one anywhere I find one will always bring me a deep sense of peace and happiness.

My greenhouse pepper plants are finally going into overwintering mode (or done-for mode, we’ll see how they go this year) so everything got picked, ready or not. Mostly ‘De Cayenne’ that were left, with a few plucky sweet peppers thrown in. #GardeningSky #Gardening

We’re really lucky that there’s a local magazine for the villages around here that always has a page for the bin schedules so we can just cut it out and pin it on the pinboard. Without that I’d constantly be on the council website

The shortest day of the year has dawned - where I am, anyway. I’m looking forward to another go-round and all the comings and goings of the plants and creatures that entails, but I am especially happy at this time of for the returning sun and the longer days to come.

Books furnish a room, no one should tell you how to arrange yours any more than they should tell you what curtains you like. If it brings you joy, revel in it ❤️

The temperature’s been all over the place and most things that need a bit of cover are in their winter digs. Like this Alstroemeria “Indian Summer” - one of the most popular varieties for good reason - which is loving the extended season it gets.

I like that you’ve managed to turn them into a Hue/Lightness colour picker… serious dedication to the bit 🙂

Since we’re loving Wicked right now, here are my two copies… one’s a hardback First, and one’s a post-West End show tie-in paperback, but the paperback is signed, so I’m honour bound to keep both. It’s hard work, giving up those two extra inches of bookshelf for book nerd reasons…

I had this in my school classroom in 1987. Still kills me that I never finished Granny’s Garden on it. Priceless memories.

Written to be spoken yet people have bought them to read for pleasure for four hundred years. So it goes both ways. What matters is that you love the words. The arguments are nonsense.
