I truly hope you find something in Toronto. Nova Scotia's loss will be Toronto's gain sadly.

Blood work done this morning and other than my son who was in for blood work as well, only a handful of mask. With flu season coming , RSV and COVID ever ongoing presence the failure of the public health establishment is at this point shows incompetence and a failure to protect the vulnerable.

it was for only someone 16 or under in the house. But when I filled the info out for him there was nothing that indicated an age limit. So unfortunately he goes back into the goddamn system of this useless healthcare system we have in Nova Scotia and ongoing now for over 4 and 1/2 years.

I got a phone call first asking for my wife but she was unable to take the call. So then they asked for my son. It sounded like it was good to go, but then after he made an initial appointment for a virtual appointment with a nurse practitioner, the receptionist called back and apparently

My son thought he might finally be assigned to a Dr. When I got an email asking for my wife and her information to be assigned to someone, it also asked if there was anyone else in our household without a doctor. So I got my son's information and filled everything out. Then I sent it off and today

That's true. I have zero issues with a progressive taxing to fund services . Should have definitely worded it better.

Bruintalk: As the season gets ready to go , I've never been more doubtful about this team in a long time. Beyond Pasta , man they are thin. Maybe Geekie gets 20 plus , Elias might rebound and get 60-65 pts but beyond that , wow. Plus do we have a D that will get over 45 pts ?Long season, probably!

PM Carney and his team going to the US is like sane people entering Arkham Asylum and hoping for a place for rational thoughts.Im sure he knows that no matter what orange pedo says or even possibly agrees to in the future it's not stable.

We need constantly to remind ourselves that there's nothing normal or inevitable about it. It would be a catastrophe from which we would not recover for many years, in which terrible things are done, to minorities, to vulnerable people, to the rest of the living planet. We cannot let it happen.

No sudden rupture is now required for the far right to take power in this country. For what we're seeing is a steady normalisation of extremists by the Conservative and Labour Parties, BBC, Telegraph, Mail and others. A shift once considered unthinkable beings to look acceptable, even inevitable.🧡

So with traffic increasing on the bridges which in turn means more wear, who's going to foot the bill for repairs ? All taxpayers, even if you rarely use it. I cannot take the morons in this PC government seriously on anything.

Centrists are appeasers and lack the courage to move things forward and break from old corrupt corporations and the wealthy influencers. You're right , it's handing it to the fascist on a plate with all the fixings.

that are struggling. Not that they have any answers, plans or programs to help , but people who are getting desperate I think don't think things through when voting . The next year will tell me much about what is going to happen under this Carney government. Will have a clue once the budget drops.

Look it's fine for the PM to say our credit score is great , the GDP , a tax cut (1% is well lol) etc... but from my side of the road and the people in my life ,they are not helping anyone. The reason the cons are still lingering too close in my opinion to power ,is they know how to lean into those

If my wife and I had a UBI after the loss of work up to her finally getting diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's/dementia,it would have stopped the fall into economic chaos. We used up all we had in reserves pretty quick , then used our main credit card to cover basic stuff we needed. UBI now !

With that said, the best funding strategy of them all was one where an equal number of funding was distributed to everyone. Distributing funds at a rate of 1 unit every five years resulted in 60% of the most talented individuals having a greater than average level of success, and distributing funds at a rate of 5 units every five years resulted in 100% of the most talented individuals having an impact! This suggests that if a funding agency or government has more money available to distribute, they'd be wise to use that extra money to distribute money to everyone, rather than to only a select few. As the researchers conclude,

"[I]f the goal is to reward the most talented person (thus increasing their final level of success), it is much more convenient to distribute periodically (even small) equal amounts of capital to all individuals rather than to give a greater capital only to a small percentage of them, selected through their level of success - already reached - at the moment of the distribution."

We cannot undo the effects of bad luck and good luck with more luck. What we can do is tax wealth and distribute universal basic income in order to in some way tax the undeserved benefits of good luck and to in some way compensate for the undeserved consequences of bad luck.

Hope, that's perhaps one of the strongest words we have apart from love, kindness, charity. Because when one loses hope, love becomes dull, kindness turns to apathy and charity dries up because one thinks it doesn't matter. I refuse to give up hope for a better future for our children and the planet.

Beautiful final words after some real talk brevity. Your life does matter. This is one of the reasons I think universal basic income is so important. It's the only policy that is everyone saying to everyone, "Your life matters."

I personally don't like probably 90% of all current music from rock, pop , horrid bro country, rap etc..and Bad Bunny, never even knew who he was .But I do love how the MAGA idiots and the far right are losing their minds over the fact he is playing half time at the Superbowl. That's a win.

Mark Carney’s Shift From Climate-Change Warrior to Fossil-Fuel Cheerleader Canada’s prime minister has scrapped green policies and pledged to transform the country ”into an energy superpower.”

The Wall Street Journal sees it even if Liberal partisans still don't.

What's been clear to me on matters of COVID and climate change, the reporting even coming from left leaning sources from articles, podcast and all in-between have been truly pathetic. They virtually never mention COVID and climate change is pretty much the same. Epic failure.

Nova Scotia - a province known for endless rainy days & many bountiful rivers & lakes - is into its 4th month of extreme drought. This is the French River, that provides Tatamagouche with water (or not). Climate crisis kicking in. But: let’s frack and clearcut anyway, says NS Premier Tim Houston.

Israel accused of detaining Greta Thunberg in infested cell and making her hold flags Activist tells Swedish officials she has been subjected to harsh treatment, including insufficient food and water

Canada is "deeply concerned about the plight of hostages held in Gaza" but doesn't mentions Palestinian political prisoners.
Been thinking of Greta today as she brings international attention to the mistreatment of prisoners, with personal experience

I've long said the police or any that serve under government authority are nothing more than arms of the state. If the state becomes corrupt and authoritarian , they will too or most will execute the orders. They look for compliance and those willing to take orders. We are seeing that in the US .
