“I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy,” Trump told New York magazine in 2002. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
reminder that Donald Trump said on the record that he partied with his buddy Jeffrey Epstein and women “on the younger side” and yet we’re pretending like the natural of their relationship is some big mystery

Treatment for trans kids cannot wait for adulthood. Adolescent changes in the body are permanent and irreversible. The pain of dysmorphia kills. No medical professional treats kids casually, no family seeks treatment casually. Treatment is safe, effective and is a conservative course of action.

I think the President of the US responding to a question about the murder of a journalist with "A lot of people didn't like that gentleman" is probably pretty bad.

Is it a threat to free speech when the President of the United States threatens to yank the broadcast license of a channel whose reporters are asking him challenging questions?
I ask because I feel like there used to be tons of pundits worried about free speech. Where'd they go?

Michigan’s health is poor. Can better transportation, food and schools fix it?
A report from the Citizen’s Research Council underscores Michigan’s overall poor health, arguing that policymakers should consider other factors — transportation, education and civic engagement, for example — for improving the state’s health and, in turn, the state’s economy.

It is good for what it is (I am not a big meat eater so not really my thing, though I like their grits). I am not sure that price tag seems right to me.... I guess it is an attractive location but the building has never struck me as being in great condition.

In 1975, Ann Arbor was the 1st city in the US to use Ranked Choice Voting to elect a mayor. Dr. Wheeler was the 1st Black tenured professor at the University of Michigan and only Black #A2Council mayor to date. But just months later, opponents moved to repeal RCV and silence the will of the voters:

Remember the recent middle-of-the-night apartment building raid where children were dragged outside naked & zip-tied in the street while black & Latino residents were _sorted by race_ and piled into separate vans while their apartments were ransacked & robbed? That raid? So it resulted in 0 arrests.

Do the same with fire departments: abolish them and give people the proceeds to protect themselves from fires. Fire fighters just sit around most of the day anyway. They’re leaches on society.
Reader: the actual solution is to make all insurance public rather than private, not to abolish it.

We should not forget that Alice Wong could only go to college because she had access to Medicaid. People with disabilities can only thrive and survive if society chooses to invest in them the way it invests in everyone else.
