Kinda inclined to blame the league and PRO, I thought there was no way Ford should ever ref another Whitecaps game, and he's proving me right.

Hey, congratulations on the Tyee byline!

Even once Moldvay/Cook B/X, and even into the BECMI era, we treated stuff published for any version of D&D as fair game. We'd just mix and match whatever - even (to TSR's horror) compatible non-D&D games like Thieves' Guild.

Is it too late for the Whitecaps to claim discovery rights?

I'm one of those "weeks or months" guys, I kickstarted the game and have the PDFs now, but I don't expect to get it on the table until after the physical books arrive. But from my read-through, it definitely feels like this game is aimed straight at me. Congratulations on making something awesome!

I still remember the first time I heard Nirvana on a classic rock station. I pretty much aged from feeling 20 to mid 40s in that moment.

Robot cooks have been "a couple of years away" for at least a decade. Like pretty much all techbro attempts to replace workers, they tend to fail under any kind of mission critical scenario - and every position in a restaurant/hotel kitchen is mission critical.

I haven't had a chance to take it out for a spin, but from reading the book I'd say it's a strong candidate to do what it says on the tin ("tactical heroic cinematic fantasy.") I'm looking forward to getting it to a table with some like-minded folks. It's not for everyone, but I think it's for me.

One thing that impressed the heck out of me is that in the PDF, when they shout out another game, there's a clickable link to buy that game - the Shadowdark shoutout links directly to the Arcane Library purchase page, and so on. Thought that was wildly classy.

The First Planned Migration of an Entire Country Is Underway The Pacific island nation of Tuvalu could be submerged in 25 years due to rising sea levels, so a plan is being implemented to relocate its population to Australia.

The first planned migration of an entire country due to climate change is happening! Tuvalu, a Pacific island nation, is at risk of being submerged under rising sea level, so it has signed an agreement with Australia to allow 280 Tuvaluans to settle in Australia as permanent residents each year.

Three months is a "long time?"

Just a year ago, the bald eagle would have had a shot at winning it all. Just bad timing, I guess.

I think there's also a Victoria con that's pretty well attended, can't go wrong either way.

There's a Vancouver con, Terminal City Tabletop, that's grown a ton recently - they take a decent chunk of the convention center. If you wanted to do a trial run by running some sessions in their TTRPG area, I bet they'd fill fast.

No idea about the Gen Z stare, but I'm pretty sure the Gen X version is a skeptical sideeye followed by a "whatever."

"UBC extension." The planned SkyTrain extension to UBC, which will have high density developments near each station.

Heaven forbid people that do things should be held responsible for the things they do! If that's not your thing, then fine, have a good day.

It's a boondoggle the Liberals have been backing for years now, and thus reasonably categorized as a Liberal boondoggle; they are not the sole owners, but in Canada they're pretty significant co-owners.

I can't help but notice you didn't dispute the part about the bracket being rigged! Now we need to know who's the shadowy figure in the background - Lululemon? The Socreds? Big Ferry? Wait, of course - it's the VANCOUVER GRIZZLIES, right?!

Carbon capture has been a Liberal boondoggle for years. Trudeau announced a bunch of corporate tax credits for green energy a few years back, but it specifically allowed carbon capture projects, and so a huge chunk of them went to oil companies.

So fast food places? Life hack: they all have websites with their menus. You can actually use that one weird trick to decide what you want before you even walk in, if so inclined.

Owning stuff is pretty classic hobby activity - stamps, model railroads, commemorative plates, lots of stuff. Reading is the one that seems weird to me - collecting books, sure that's a hobby, but reading is just a thing people do.

I'm assuming the upcoming Supergirl movie will be trying to hit similar notes to this one, so it might be a spiritual sequel.

It's best to phase in that kind of lifestyle choice, so I suggest we stop once we've eaten the rich.

Beelink boxes are pretty awesome, I replaced my clunky old desktop earlier this year. They have models that ship with Linux installed, too. Not great for hobbyists who want to customize their build, but I think I'm past that urge.

My last 4:

Shadowdark
Lancer
Longshot City
Ironsworn: Sundered Isles

D&Dish, battling mechs, costumed vigilantes, pirates. I guess I'd sum up my tastes as "eclectic".

Cyborg Commando flopped, the company's investors backed out, and the company went under. Essentially the same story repeated a couple more times until Gygax finally got some of his Castle Greyhawk stuff published (as Yggsburgh). (2/2)

As I recall, New Infinities was Gygax's first post-TSR company, intended to publish Gord the Rogue books and stuff from his Castle Greyhawk game. This game was mostly by Frank Mentzer and Kim Mohan, to get the company's name out there. (1/2)
